This Fine Bit of Propaganda From CNN Is Almost Funny – HotAir

Orange Man and Rocket Man together are a killer team.

In this case, according to CNN, literally so. They worried a poor federal bureaucrat so much that she up and died.

Granted, she wasn’t in tip-top shape. And granted, people die of heart attacks all the time. Especially when, as the autopsy showed, one has a build-up of plaques in the arteries that take decades to develop.

But still, you just gotta know that the one-two punch of Orange Man and Rocket Man really did her in

Stress and anxiety had been building for weeks in Monique Lockett, a 25-year veteran of the Social Security Administration, about the fate of her colleagues and the sensitive agency data she had vowed to protect, her sister Ksha told CNN.

In February, amid sweeping changes to the federal workforce, Monique was five years from retirement but was facing one of the most uncertain periods of her career, according to Ksha. She was growing increasingly concerned about what Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency might do to the agency.

“My sister had a lot of anxiety around the changes that were happening in other agencies and, inevitably, what would happen to Social Security,” Ksha told CNN. “She was concerned about the overall well-being of everybody that she worked with because it was stressful for a lot of people.”

The Trump administration’s demolition of federal programs and jobs has sent waves of anxiety and depression through a government workforce that is experiencing anger, hopelessness and worries about people harming themselves, according to interviews with federal workers, their family members and mental health professionals who spoke to CNN. Since the beginning of the DOGE-led program cuts, falsehoods have proliferated online about alleged fraud and wasteful programs, fueling a caricature in some Americans’ minds of an inept or corrupt federal worker.

Monique’s final days were spent in that climate of fear and stress while feeling devalued in the workplace, before dying on the job two months ago, according to her sister.

“It was very upsetting to her to hear that what they did wasn’t valued, what they did wasn’t important and certainly that what they did was wasteful,” Ksha said.

Monique died of hypertensive atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease — a buildup of plaque in the arteries — according to Stephanie Moore, a spokesperson for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of Maryland.

It is impossible to know exactly what factors triggered Monique’s health emergency that day. Chronic stress can increase the risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, according to medical experts.

“Chronic stress can increase the risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, according to medical experts.” Uh, yeah. True enough.

But “chronic” does not mean less than two months. You don’t develop hypertensive atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease in two months. She died in February, it looks like. So maybe she worked for Trump for a month?

Let me ask a question or two. Did she smoke? How did she eat? Did she exercise? What is her family history?

Is every heart attack by a federal employee now to be attributed to Trump? Is he as bad as Mitt Romney, who the Democrats famously accused of giving a woman cancer?

For God’s sake, man, do better. It’s like they aren’t even trying.

The awful thing is that this level of propaganda actually works on a lot of people. Not so much that they internalize every incident as a fact, but more because a gestalt is created in which the very existence of Trump is an offense against humanity. If there is chronic stress out there, the Pravda Media is stoking it.

Trump will give your mom a heart attack! Ksha says so! I saw it on CNN!

I don’t want to be cruel or anything because I truly wish Monique were still with us and enjoying life, but Monique was not a picture of health.

You have the picture in front of you. Is that the picture of health? I mean, except for the “healthy at any size” crowd?

No doubt Monique was a lovely lady who really did spend every waking moment worried that 125-year-olds might lose their Social Security benefits, but I am pretty sure that these worries did not cause her death.

CNN will not concede that Trump has the right to deport an MS13 gang member without ironclad proof he went on a murderous rampage on film, but they come up with the “Trump and Elon killed Monique” theory out of thin air.

Hmm. It’s almost like the narrative matters, not the truth.

Naaah. I am sure CNN had no ulterior motive in putting forth this theory.
