MANCHESTER UNITED flop Antony has been told “a bit of everything” is wrong with him following an alarming dip in form.
The Brazilian winger completed a permanent move to Real Betis for just under £22million last summer, after three disappointing years at Old Trafford.
A stunning loan spell at the club in the second half of 2024/25 where he scored nine goals and added five assists in all competitions convinced the Spanish side, and boss Manuel Pellegrini, to bring the attacker to Spain.
Antony continued his solid form in the Europa League with four goals in the group stage before adding another in the last 16, but has managed seven in the league, with only two of those coming since the turn of the year.
Following a goalless stalemate at the weekend at home to Espanyol, Premier League title winner and former Manchester City manager Pellegrini spoke about the 26-year-old’s poor form.
He said: “What’s wrong with him? A bit of everything. First, it’s a physical issue, because he doesn’t train every day.
“Second, he has pubalgia and if we make him play 90 minutes, it’s very difficult for him to recover for the next game.
“Third, that same pubalgia still gives him some discomfort, but one always expects him to do decisive things as he does.
“We have to continue taking him with great care.
“I don’t think he is in a position to complete 90 minutes, as I say, because that limits him a lot for the next game.”

Antony’s poor form comes at a vital time for his hopes of making his nation’s World Cup squad.
He has not been involved in a Samba squad since June 2025, but did not feature in games against Ecuador and Paraguay.
The £81m Red Devils flop last featured for his country in March 2023, a friendly against Morocco.
Antony has scored twice for the national team from 16 appearances.
He will have to find form quickly if he is to convince Carlo Ancelotti to take him to North America for the World Cup finals in the summer, where Brazil will take on Morocco, Haiti and Scotland in the group stage.
Antony scored just 12 goals and added five assists over 96 United appearances.
