THE World Snooker Championship starts this month, and players are competing for their spot at the Crucible at the qualifiers.
128 players are in action in Sheffield with 16 places on the line for snooker‘s biggest tournament.
Jimmy White is among the players dreaming of getting to the Crucible – the Whirlwind reached six World finals but lost all of them.
1997 world champion Ken Doherty is also entering in round one as the Darling of Dublin eyes a return to snooker’s most famous venue.
Zhao Xintong became world champion last year after winning four rounds of qualifying.
2023 champion Luca Brecel became the first player from Continental Europe to win the tournament, but will now have to go through qualifying after dropping out of the top-16.
When are the World Snooker Championship qualifiers?
- The qualifying event started on Monday, April 6 and will run until Wednesday, April 15.
- The English Institute of Sport Sheffield will see 128 players compete.
- Sessions start at 10am and 2.30pm BST.

- TNT Sports will broadcast live coverage of the qualifiers everyday throughout the tournament.
