Britain is becoming unsustainably over-reliant on the State and Labour’s making the culture of dependency worse

AFTER the Budget last November, this newspaper asked if the Government was on the side of the strivers or the skivers?

For working families since then, times have only got harder while those on welfare continue to cash in.

The war on Iran has sent fuel and food prices soaring. Energy bills will also spike in the summer.

With appalling timing, Rachel Reeves’s crippling taxes on businesses have also destroyed jobs for young people.

And that’s before the Chancellor’s attacks on fun with hikes on bookies, pubs and even family holidays in Britain.

Yet Labour is falling over itself to help those living easy on Benefits Street.

Striking doctors are piling pain onto Brits already crushed by bills

THE SUN SAYS

Labour’s fuel duty hypocrisy is leaving Brits struggling as petrol prices soar

Scrapping the two-child benefit cap will give large workless families up to £6,400 extra — while costing working taxpayers a collective £3.5billion.

Meanwhile, a plan to scrap paper and face-to-face welfare applications in favour an online-only self-service system will likely only lead to MORE claims and a bigger bill for workers.

Even the blue badge parking scheme is now rife with scammers — with a wholly unbelievable one in 20 drivers now qualifying.

As Tory leader Kemi Badenoch rightly points out, Britain is becoming unsustainably over-reliant on the State.

Far from getting people back into work, Labour is making this costly culture of dependency worse.

Do no harm

WILL resident doctors listen to Wes Streeting’s plea over the insane strikes that have crippled the NHS for two years?

Writing in The Sun, the Health Secretary hopes to appeal to the better nature of individual medics ahead of a six-day strike starting tomorrow.

He has been left with little alternative.

Streeting has already backed up last year’s 29 per cent pay deal with another generous offer.

Yet it seems nothing will get in the way of the BMA union leaders and their desire to do maximum damage to our health service with their greed.

Still they remain bent on abandoning patients, forcing the cancellation of long-awaited operations and leaving the elderly in corridors on trollies.

Streeting will pray that doctors end up realising their Marxist leadership is marching them to disaster.

Rocket up ’em

NASA’s incredible mission to the far side of the Moon is not just a wonderful sight for space nerds.

It’s a vital symbol of Western power against Chinese and Russian ambitions to colonise and mine it for minerals.

It was the imperative of defeating Russia during the Cold War which spurred the original Moon landings.

With Artemis II, the West is sending a signal to Moscow and Beijing: hands off.
