Historic England says Hailey Wood Camp, buried since the 1980s after it was plundered, is rare.

It added that, “a number of temple complexes [in the UK] have similar double-ditch enclosed areas”.

Seven lead “curse tablets”, which Romans used to ask the Gods to jinx an enemy, were reportedly found there.

Previous owner, World War I hero Major William Daubney, was the first to identify “Hailey Wood Camp”, an underground temple complex dating between 100AD and 400AD.

Liam, 53, bought the home in December from ex-footballer Tony Adams.

The complex is centred on a square enclosure with other smaller buildings scattered around it.

It has been buried since the 1980s after the site was plundered for “coins and other metal objects”, according to an article from the Bristol and Gloucestershire Archaeological Society.

Liam is known to love his history.

When asked on X by a fan what’s the first thing he does on holiday, he responded: “I unpack and hang up all my clothes in alphabetical order then I go find out some local history then I get on the pi**.”

Now he’s got plenty to explore near to his country manor, which is set in five acres and features a swimming pool, tennis courts, stables and a two-bedroom cottage.
