CORONATION Street aired a dramatic conclusion to a shock incest storyline as a couple FINALLY learn the truth about their ancestry.
Tonight’s episode saw Maggie Driscoll fess up about the identity of her son Ben’s real dad, who The Sun exclusively revealed as Jim McDonald after he and Maggie had an affair in the 70s.
After dropping the bombshell on Ben, Maggie put two and two together that grandson Ollie and Steve McDonald’s daughter Amy were spending time alone together.
As the realisation dawned on Maggie, she ran round to the Barlow house to stop the pair and reveal the ugly truth.
Amy and Ollie were indeed sharing an intimate moment alone, kissing on the sofa, when they were interrupted by Maggie furiously banging on the front door.
“You two haven’t been..,” a distressed Maggie runs in, after being let in by Amy. “You can’t go out with each other..
“Because you’re cousins,” she concludes with a crest-fallen face.
Her admission is also heard by son Ben and Steve McDonald, who are then informed of their shock half-sibling connection.
“He was a stranger, I met him in a bar,” Maggie explained. “As soon as I saw that picture of him on the sideboard I knew.”
She then pointed to Jim McDonald’s Order of Service from his funeral, with the character having died off screen last month.
“You’ve known for months,” an outraged Ben replies, with a confused Steve adding: “Since before the funeral?”
“You let me go to my own dad’s funeral without telling me,” Ben added as Maggie hung her head in shame.
“My grandpa,” a disgusted Amy then said. “I can’t get my head around this.”
When Steve accused Maggie of lying, she hit back assuring that it was all true.
“He was 22, from Belfast, he had a moustache, he liked to drink,” Maggie continued.
“I knew he had family and he was away from home but he was lonely.
“‘m not trying to justify this, I know I can’t do that,” she said,
“I was snogging my own cousin,” Amy then interjected, disgusted by the revelation and the Driscoll family.
Ollie then took a swipe at Amy, ending their tryst, as he added: “It was your Grandad who couldn’t keep it in his kecks.”
Amy then stormed out of the room, not wanting to deal with the situation.
