A HUGE US band has been forced to cancel the remaining dates on their tour as they revealed one member is currently battling a health condition.
It comes following a string of gig cancellations from the group over recent weeks.
The Goo Goo Dolls cancelled three of their scheduled shows in Canada earlier this week due to health.
And now, the iconic band, which includes original members John Rzeznik and Robby Takac, have said the rest of their Canadian dates will also be cancelled.
In a new statement, they shared how lead singer John, 60, had been diagnosed with pneumonia.
“Unfortunately, we must cancel the remaining dates on our Canadian tour. John was diagnosed with pneumonia and has not fully recovered.
“We are very disappointed and can’t wait to get back to Canada as soon as possible.”
Gutted fans took to the comment section to share their support and wish John a speedy recovery.
Pneumonia is a type of chest infection, typically caused by bacteria or viruses entering the lungs.
Antibiotics are given when the cause is bacterial, while viral pneumonia usually goes away itself with rest and plenty of fluids.
The infection typically occurs in people who are older, ill, or have a weaker immune system.
The band were due to tour Canada until 11 April, with scheduled dates in Ottawa, Laval, Halifax and Moncton.
Later this month, they are scheduled to begin the US leg of their tour, which has not been cancelled.
Health allowing, they will kick things off on 18 April in Georgetown, with the tour ending in September with a closing performance in Ocean City, Maryland.
The Goo Goo Dolls rose to fame with their 1995 song Name, before their career catapulted upon the release of smash hit Iris three years later.
With original members John and Robby still standing strong, the band’s longtime drummer Mike Malinin left in 2013.
