Lucy Letby ‘fears she will be murdered & is high-profile target in jail after Ian Huntley & Ian Watkins attacks’

BABY killer Lucy Letby fears she could be murdered in jail after fiends Ian Huntley and Ian Watkins were savagely attacked and killed behind bars.

Letby, 36 – serving 15 whole-life sentences for murdering seven babies – is currently being held in a secure unit at HMP Bronzefield in Surrey.

The sickening death toll saw her become the UK’s most prolific killer nurse and one of Britain’s worst-ever female serial killers.

Notorious lags Watkins and Huntley were both killed after being targeted by other inmates in their high-security prisons.

Letby, in custody since 2020, is on a unit alongside baby killer aristocrat Constance Marten and Sara Sharif’s stepmum Beinash Batool.

And sources say that despite having a “number of supporters” in the prison, Letby now fears she could be next.

One told the Daily Star: “Lucy is frightened that she could be attacked and killed by one of the inmates inside HMP Bronzefield.

“She knows that other high-profile prisoners have been attacked and killed recently… this is something that worries her.

“There are some very dangerous women in Bronzefield and they would see any attack on her as increasing their status within the jail.”

Huntley, serving life for the murders of ten-year-olds Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, died last month after being savagely attacked in jail.

The Soham monster was battered to death in a workshop inside top-security Frankland jail in County Durham last month.

Huntley – left in an induced coma – died aged 52 after doctors turned off his life support after consulting his mother.

Meanwhile, last October, paedo rockstar Watkins was ambushed after cons were unlocked from their cells at Wakefield Prison in West Yorkshire.

Watkins, 48, was serving 35 years for a string of child sex offences, including the attempted rape of a baby.

The ex-Lostprophets frontman – who narrowly survived previous assaults by inmates – died from blood loss after having his jugular slashed.

We previously revealed how Letby was being monitored around the clock after being mocked by lags over the Netflix documentary on her case.

The Investigation of Lucy Letby explores both sides of the divisive case behind the UK’s most prolific killer nurse.

Prison staff have been told to check her every hour and speak to her for at least ten minutes a day to assess her over suicide fears.

Officers at the prison began an assessment, care in custody and teamwork process to contain fallout over the 90-minute programme.

Inmates cannot watch Netflix in the jail but are in phone contact with people outside.

Our source said: “They also get newspapers and it’s likely there are some smartphones inside… so some of the girls might even have seen it.”

Letby has also had extra safety checks because of taunts over her controversial case.

She carried out her sick crimes in a year-long spree at Countess of Chester Hospital, using insulin and air to inject newborns on the neo-natal ward.

The collapses and deaths of the children were not “naturally-occurring tragedies” and instead the gruesome work of “poisoner” Letby.

Her rampage was finally uncovered after staff grew suspicious of the rise in the number of babies dying or suffering “catastrophic” collapses.

After a harrowing nine-month trial in August 2023, Letby was found guilty of murdering seven babies and the attempted murder of six others.

Verdicts could not be reached on six counts of attempted murder, but after 22 days of jury deliberation, she was handed 14 whole-life sentences.

The following year, Letby was found guilty of the attempted murder of Child K and given another whole-life order after a retrial.

She lost two bids in 2024 to challenge her convictions.

But the Criminal Cases Review Commission is now considering evidence claiming natural causes and poor care caused the deaths.
