Derek Chisora is as dangerous at the dinner table as he is in the ring and on the street, reveals his sparring partner

DEREK CHISORA is as dangerous at the dinner table as he is in the ring and on the street.

The 42-year-old brawler has his 50th and final fight with Deontay Wilder, 40, tonight.

The pair have been bosom buddies in the build-up, sharing fish and chips in Borough Market after a visit to our office and planning BBQs and fishing trips in retirement.

But Chisora’s favourite training partner and friend, Bryant Jennings, has spent a decade around one of the most dangerous men in British boxing.

And he has seen the beauty and the beast that make up Del Boy’s complex character.

On SunSport’s No Gloves Lost show, Jennings: “He’s like the lion that is the king of the pride.

Chisora ready to cement legacy by sending himself & Wilder into retirement

“He might lose a fight, he may lose something in some other aspect, but masculinity-wise, Derek knows that he has your number.

“Derek is a very likable person on the outside. But if there is a street fight, he’s gonna kill you. He’ll bite you, that motherf***er bites you. He’ll headbutt you too.

“In boxing, a lot of people put on a show. But Derek really lives that life. As we would say in America, ‘he’s about that life’”.

“He talks the same way at the dinner table, literally.

“I will pass him some bread and he’ll start looking at me crazy and asking why I am looking at him a certain way. That’s just Derek.”

Jennings rose up the ranks in American boxing at the same time as Wilder and knows him well.

He knows Derek even better, though, after dragging each other through training camp trenches – but he still can’t really work him out.

“He’s always been wired differently!” the one-time world title challenger said. “We don’t understand that part of him, but he’s a beast.

“He’s a beast you can’t really figure out but he has a little strategy to it too. It doesn’t always work, but he’s always going to put 100 per cent into it.”

That maths makes Jennings’ prediction far easier to fathom,.

“I’m going with Derek,” he said.

“I believe that Derek definitely has what it takes – he’s like a raging bull.”

Chisora vs Wilder – all the info

DEREK CHISORA and Deontay Wilder are set to go head-to-head in a blockbuster heavyweight bout this Saturday.

Both of the boxing legends will step into the ring for the 50th fight of their professional careers, with Del Boy ready to hang up his gloves after reaching the half-century mark.

Chisora previously stated he would retire after his 50th fight, and a huge home clash against one of boxing’s most dangerous punchers is a fitting farewell.

The 42-year-old Londoner heads into the home bout on a three-fight winning streak, including standout victories over Joe Joyce and Otto Wallin.

Meanwhile, Wilder has failed to look at his explosive best since back-to-back defeats to Tyson Fury.

Since then, the Bronze Bomber has secured two underwhelming wins against lower-ranked opponents and suffered further losses to Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang.
