Newcastle’s fans and the club have treated Sandro incredibly well and supported him every time.”

When asked whether Tonali is now a target of Premier League giants, Rizzo replied: “Exactly, that was the aim, and it’s only natural that he’s on their radar; he’s performing extremely well.”

“That was the aim and the vision when we made the decision to move to Newcastle, for Sandro to become an exceptional player and the most valuable Italian player.”

Tonali’s suitors were handed a major transfer boost after Newcastle CEO David Hopkinson hinted at a summer shake-up.

However, the ex-AC Milan star is expected to command a hefty fee in the region of £100million.

Newcastle are braced for a potential squad overhaul this summer with the likes of Bruno Guimaraes, Anthony Gordon and Tino Livramento also linked with an exit.

The Magpies also confirmed Kieran Trippier will leave the club this summer when his contract expires.
