Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham AFC to ban sexist trolls after online abuse of its women footballers

HOLLYWOOD star Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham AFC will ban sexist fans after its women footballers were abused online. 

The club’s female team was this week crowned champions of the Genero Adran Premier league for the first time but faced sexist hate from trolls.

Deadpool star Reynolds and co-owner Rob McElhenney have invested heavily in the women’s team since buying the club in 2020, taking them from amateur to semi-professional status. 

Now, they have said any fan guilty of misogynistic hate would be banned from all games. 

The club said: “We are aware of sexist and misogynistic comments shared online following the match. 

“We will not allow this behaviour to overshadow a great moment for women’s football.

“We stand unequivocally with our players and staff. Their professionalism, character and success deserve to be celebrated. 

“As a club, we will always support and protect them, and we will continue to promote an environment that is inclusive, welcoming and respectful for all.” 

“We will not tolerate discrimination of any kind and those who hold or express such views are not part of our community.’ 

“If supporters are identified, then we will ban individuals from all Wrexham AFC sites.”
