THE West End production of hit show The Book Of Mormon was cancelled abruptly last night after a man allegedly threw items at the performers and claimed to be on a “spiritual protest.”
The musical, which has been on in London since 2013, was taking place as usual when the audience member disrupted the show.
The incident happened as the cast sang the track All-American Prophet, which is a satirical song about the founding of the Mormon Church.
One audience member wrote on TikTok: “Show stopped because some old guy wearing a lime green balaclava stood up and threw stuff at the actors during All American Prophet and started shouting about doing a spiritual protest.”
Another said: “I was there! So scary!”
The cast were taken off stage and the audience member was ejected from the building, but a producer then announced the musical would not be continuing.

She said: “Unfortunately we’ve had an incident with one of our audience members and so we are going to have to cancel the rest of this performance.”
Punters were then offered cancellation slips to rebook or get a refund.
A spokesperson for The Book of Mormon: “The performance of The Book of Mormon in London last night, Tuesday 31 March, was cancelled mid-way through act 1 following an incident involving an audience member seated in the front row disrupting the performance.
“The safety and wellbeing of cast, crew, audience members, and venue staff is always of highest priority, so the decision was made by producers and Delfont Mackintosh Theatres to stop the performance and cancel the remainder of the show.
“The individual was escorted from the building, and the producers and theatre staff dealt with the authorities in relation to the matter.”
Performances of the show at the Prince of Wales Theatre are set to continue today as usual.
