SHE’S one of the sexiest bombshells to strut into the Love Island villa. but Maura Higgins has now gone “celibate” following a string of bad relationships.
The fiery Irish icon, 35, revealed that she has sworn off men following have “severe trust issues” – and she’s not the only famous star to shut down any bedroom action.
Last month, Maura, who finished as runner-up on The Traitors USA, revealed the last time she had sex was a year ago – with her last known romance being her brief connection with Pete Wicks.
Speaking to Elite Daily, Maura said: “I’ve been cheated on by the majority of my exes — that’s the reason I’ve been celibate for a whole year.”
Previous stars she dated have included Giovanni Pernice and two of her Love Island co-stars – Curtis Pritchard and Chris Taylor.
However, she created a scandal when she was snapped locking lips with married McFly star Danny Jones at the 2025 Brit Awards after-party.
Danny and wife Georgia ended up remaining together and Maura has not been linked to anyone since.
And she’s not the only celeb to go celibate and rave about the benefits…
Faye Winter
Last year, Love Island’s Faye Winter opened up about choosing celibacy to rediscover herself, after splitting from fellow Islander Teddy Soares in 2023, who she met in 2021.
She shared: “I wanted to be single for a year [after the break-up] and I’ve doubled that.
“I’ve been single for two years, and I’m the happiest I’ve ever been.
“I also wanted to stay celibate, so I could find myself again.”
Animal-loving Faye, who now lives in Devon, admitted she had been “tempted” by some “sexy DMs.
She added: “I wanted to stay true to myself. Since then, I’ve had some great sex. It’s taboo, but women have needs.
“At the moment, I like to have sex, but I don’t want anything more than that. Nobody has come home to meet my golden retriever Bonnie yet.”
Tulisa
She was once voted the World’s Sexiest Woman, but Tulisa Contostavlos also shared how she gave sex a break.
The N-Dubz singer, who topped FHM’s sexiest female list in 2012, made the surprising revelation that she had been celibate for three years on I’m A Celebrity in 2024.
Tulisa also told her campmates that she identifies as “demisexual” – which is when a person only begins to find someone sexually attractive after forming a strong emotional bond with them.
And the former X Factor judge even admitted the thought of sleeping with someone makes her feel “physically sick”.
She said: “I need actual depth. I’m a slow, slow burner, I’ve been celibate for over three years.
“I’m not an overly sexualised person.”
Ferne McCann
Ferne McCann didn’t have sex for two years after she split from her jailbird ex Arthur Collins in 2017.
The former TOWIE star made the confession in an episode of First Time Mum, while on a house viewing with her and Arthur’s then-15-month-old daughter Sunday in tow.
She told Liam ‘Gatsby’ Blackwell: “It’s coming up to two years, I’m basically a born-again virgin.
“I need to clean away the old cobwebs!”
She certainly managed that, as Ferne and her now-fiance Lorri Haines welcomed a daughter Finty in July 2023.
Peter Andre
Following the 2009 breakdown of his four-year marriage to Katie Price, singer Peter Andre announced he would embrace celibacy until his divorce was finalised.
It took seven months and he was as good as his word – even waiting eight days after it became official before embarking on a three-month fling with former glamour model (and Price lookalike) Maddy Ford.
Now he’s happily married to NHS doctor Emily MacDonagh (now Emily Andre), whom he wed in 2015, and they have three children together: Amelia, born 2014, Theodore, born 2016, and Arabella, who arrived in April 2024.
Lauren Goodger
Last year, Lauren Goodger seemingly shared that she was preparing to remain celibate until she meets the right man.
The former TOWIE star reposted a quote that read: “The longer a woman stays celibate, the idea of someone touching her who doesn’t meet her mental, physical, and spiritual wants and needs will literally make her feel sick.”
And it’s not the first time the mum-of-one has opened up about the topic.
In 2016, Lauren Goodger began dating jailbird Joey Morrison, while he was serving time in prison for a string of violent, drugs-related charges.
At the time, the reality star confessed they were yet to be intimate and she was saving herself for him.
In a candid interview with Closer Magazine, she said: “Joey’s going to be knackered when we’re finally alone because we’ll be very busy.
“There’s lots to do. I’ve been properly celibate for a year but he’s worth the wait.”
The couple broke up in July 2017, following a furious row inside HMP Highpoint South.
But Lauren continued with her celibacy journey – and still hadn’t had sex by 2018.
She said: “I’m a very sexual person, but I don’t want to be intimate with someone unless I’m in a relationship. I want to settle down and have the fairytale.”
Last week, Lauren was forced to deny rumours that she is back with on/off ex-boyfriend builder Charles Drury, after they jetted off on holiday with their four-year-old daughter, Larose.
Lauren wrote: “Just for our daughter we do family holiday, making memories for her.”
Ulrika Jonsson
Swedish TV presenter Ulrika Jonsson revealed that she had been in a sexless marriage with third husband Brian Money, making love just once in eight and a half years.
Happily, the sex drought has since been broken.
Following the break up of her marriage in 2019, Jonsson revealed she had finally had ‘fantastic’ sex with a mystery man.
And in 2021, she confessed she had been dating someone 21 years her junior – admitting ‘it’s enormously exciting for an old bird like me’.
She told Fabulous: “I don’t want kids and marriage, I want laughter, good food and sex . . . please.

But Kendra Wilkinson revealed she had been celibate since divorcing her husband Hank Baskett in 2018.
In January 2024, the former I’m A Celebrity star told People: “It’s been so long since I’ve had sex – it’s been so long that I’ve had any.
“Because I shamed myself on my sexuality too. Everyone sees me as a sex icon, so I shamed myself. I shamed myself, and I stayed away from anything sex.
“I almost became celibate.”
Gemma Collins
She’s happily engaged to businessman Rami Hawash, and plans to marry him and have a baby in 2026.
But in April 2012, Gemma Collins begged her then-boyfriend Charlie King for sex on TOWIE – telling him she’d not had it in a year.
Charlie has since come out as gay but, at the time, told Gemma he wasn’t ready for sex with her.
Gemma argued: “You know what everyone in Essex is like, they put it about!”
He replied: “I’m not like everyone else. I’m going to stick to my roots with that, let’s just have some fun, you need to be patient with me.”
Gemma hit back: “I’ll be patient with you but its random behaviour, it’s bizarre to me, a man wants to touch you, feel you, slap your a**e.
“I’ve not had sex for a whole year.”
