In my VIP post yesterday, I wrote about the left’s need to erase inconvenient facts.
Among the examples I brought up was the Mayor of Providence, RI, attempting to pressure a gay club to remove a mural of Iryna Zarutska from the side of their building.
What began as a memorial for a slain Ukrainian refugee has transformed into a political lightning rod in the “Creative Capital,” with Mayor Brett Smiley now calling for the artwork’s removal.https://t.co/NJjOcVKeIS

The story struck me as an extreme example of the Stalinesque tendency of leftists to airbrush history to make it fit their narrative. Since Zarutska was murdered by a beneficiary of leftist decarceration policies that allowed a violent felon to keep walking the streets, her murder must be buried.
REPORT: Judge Teresa Stokes released Decarlos Brown just months before he stabbed Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zaruska because he wrote her a “written promise.”
Remarkable.
According to court documents, Stokes decided to release Brown because he “promised” her he would return for… pic.twitter.com/F9dQHoxpHz

Just as all the rapes and murders committed by illegal aliens must be hidden, or terrorist attacks by Muslims must be played down. Or transgender mass killings. Or… You get the idea. We have heard about tiki torches in Charlottesville for years, but actual murders and rapes go down the memory hole.
Well, the Mayor and the city council of Providence succeeded in erasing Iryna. She doesn’t reflect our values, it seems. Bad people are sad that she died, and as the Democrats proved with their stony silence at the State of the Union, good people don’t care a whit about her, and are in fact angry she ever existed.
SICKENING. Democrats refused to stand for Iryna Zarutska’s parents. pic.twitter.com/CRQOTNOvQB

Iryna represents badthink. We must do goodthink. Say three Hail Transgenders and the BLM rosary and repent.
This is the “offensive” mural in question. It is now being removed. pic.twitter.com/xN1bM3jf4h

Apparently, the anti-Iryna movement is nationwide. It seems that everywhere a mural of her pops up, liberals rush to vandalize it.
Iryna murals keep getting vandalized

Known Vandalism Incidents
- Chicago (North Center, Montrose Ave mural by SAV45): This is the most documented case. It was vandalized at least twice(possibly more):
- Early incidents included “Hang Musk” graffiti (January 2026, quickly covered) and an attempted “paint bomb.”
- A later defacement with black/dark paint splatters on her face (reported around late February–early March 2026). Some accounts describe it as being hit “again” within two weeks or “several times.”
- New York City (Lower East Side/Bushwick area): At least one mural was tagged with graffiti, including phrases like “PLEASE VANDALIZE THIS” or “Fuck Trump” shortly after installation (early 2026).
- Pensacola, Florida: One mural was severely defaced, with vandals reportedly replacing Iryna’s portrait with the face of her killer.
- Washington, D.C.: References to a mural being vandalized “at least three times total,” including spray paint covering her face (tied to broader campaign mentions).
- Other locations (e.g., mentions of murals in Los Angeles, Miami, Las Vegas, Charlotte, etc.): General reports note that “murals created in memory of Iryna Zarutska have reportedly been vandalized multiple times,” but specifics are limited. Some were temporary or faced backlash/removal rather than outright vandalism (e.g., a partially completed one in Providence was removed due to controversy).
The vandalism often appears politically motivated, linked to the campaign’s funding (including support from Elon Musk and others) and its messaging on crime and public safety. Reactions have been mixed, with some viewing the murals as tributes and others criticizing them as political statements. Not every mural has been targeted, and many remain intact or have been repaired.
Exact totals are hard to pin down because the project is decentralized (involving many artists and cities), and not all incidents receive media coverage. Coverage from early-to-mid 2026 focuses on high-profile cases in Chicago and NYC. If you’re looking for updates on a specific city or mural, more details could help narrow it down.
When teenagers do a donut on a rainbow crosswalk, it becomes national news, the perpetrators are hunted down and charged with hate crimes, and we need a national conversation on “phobias.” Cities pay to paint Black Lives Matters on streets, put up the Progress Pride Flag as a statement, and even build monuments to George Floyd, and God forbid anybody object.
The North Carolina government helped memorialize George Floyd next to the state capitol, and you don’t see anyone vandalizing his engraving
And Floyd truly was hoist by his own petard, unlike Iryna Zarutska whose only crime was to not keep an eye on the nearby black lunatic https://t.co/LpHuA4Qdsh pic.twitter.com/LIf6pT2ct7

Liberals cannot abide you noticing reality. There is a genre of tweets out there of mugshots where the authorities have clearly race-swapped the perpetrators to juke the statistics. Too many perps are minorities, so they label them as “white” for the statistics. In San Francisco the BART managers decided they couldn’t release CCTV of crimes on the trains because it was racist to let people know who was committing crimes.
In 2023, only 17% of BART riders feel safe.
In 2017, BART officials covered-up crime on the trains to avoid “racist” stereotypes.
Avoiding race stereotypes and hurt feelings was prioritized over public safety and truth, a madness that has since grown and made cities less safe. https://t.co/swEYdly6rR pic.twitter.com/q0EzPZIZjy

In Germany, where sexual assaults by Syrian refugees are a crisis, the campaign against them is based on the idea that white people are harassing brown people.
Go ahead and scoff, but I’ve survived dozens of swimming pool ass-grabbings by angry huge Teutonic ginger hausfraus https://t.co/jGTgPjs40L

Acknowledging reality is racist, sexist, phobic, and mean. So it must be erased, or twisted, or hoaxes must be created.
They’re blotting out murals for Iryna, but if you leave a skid mark on a rainbow crosswalk you’ll get charged with a hate crime and lose your job. https://t.co/HGu97Xjbo9

Democrats will look you in the eye and tell you that white supremacist terrorism is a massive problem in the US, but when you ask them to name the incidents, they sputter and dredge up decades-old events like the Oklahoma City bombing. Any of us could pull out of a hat any number of trans-related attacks, or Muslim attacks, without blinking an eye because they are far more common, and out of a much smaller population of potential perpetrators. Trans people are way less than 1% of the population, but you could name a bunch of shootings in just the past couple of years.
The likelihood of legacy media discussing a murderer’s race depends on the murderer’s race.
This is why BLM martyrs like George Floyd get endless coverage while cases like Iryna Zarutska are forgotten.
The bias is clear: pic.twitter.com/I7dNK48aLo

Muslims make up about 1% of the US population, and we have had several terrorist attacks in the past few weeks. But sure, white supremacists are the problem.
He cites people wanting to be “safe” as a reason to destroy a mural on a private building meant to honor a murdered woman.
You can’t imagine how crazy Democrats are in these blue bastions. You think what you see on MSNBC is nuts? It’s even worse in their bubble cities. https://t.co/xToupibJpj

It’s all about narrative control. Showing Iryna “doesn’t fit our values” because “our values” are based on Critical Theory, which in turn is based on the idea that criminals are victims and victims of criminals deserved it.
George Floyd: A criminal who got a gold casket, murals, statues, and even presidential recognition.
Iryna Zarustka: An innocent girl on a train. Can’t even have a mural.
This is a level of cultural decline not even ancient Rome was familiar with. https://t.co/5w4nDoShXR
