JESY Nelson has shared a cryptic quote about surviving “storms” after revealing her unborn twins’ devastating SMA diagnosis.
The former Little Mix star posted the emotional message amid her ongoing health battle, leaving fans concerned.
The singer took to social media with the poignant post, hinting at the tough journey she’s facing behind the scenes.
The quote read: “You’ve met storms before. And every single time, you’ve found your way back to the sunlight. That pattern isn’t luck. It’s you.”
It comes after she bravely opened up about her twins’ diagnosis, with fans rallying around her in support as she posts her highs and lows.
Ocean and Story have been diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) – a genetic neuromuscular condition that weakens muscles by affecting motor nerve cells in the spinal cord.
The most severe form, Type 1, can have a life expectancy of less than two years without treatment.
Jesy frequently posts snaps of the twins receiving care from the medics at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Last week, she shared a photo of her twins getting fitted with leg splints.
They are used to help with muscle pain and weakness.
Jesy said: “So, today I had to go and pick up the girls’ splints because they’re feet are pointing this way and they need to be flattened out and it made me really sad.
“But have you ever seen anything cuter in your life, look at them. This one is Story, she has hearts and Ocean has butterlies.
“It made me sad though, it’s just another reminder.”
At the start of the year, she shared the heartbreaking news about their SMA diagnosis.
Jesy described how it was her mum Janice who had first shown concern about the twins soon after they were born.
She said: “A few months ago my mum noticed that the girls were not showing as much movement in their legs as they should be.
“It wasn’t really a concern to me at the time because from the minute I left NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit), I was told ‘your babies are premature, so do not compare your babies to other babies. They won’t reach the same milestones, take them as they are and they will get where they need to be when they do’.”
Since revealing her twins’ diagnosis, Jesy is now campaigning for the NHS to expand the standard heel prick test to screen for SMA1.
She says the test, which costs around £1, could have “saved their legs” by giving them access to treatment sooner.
If the twins had been tested and treated in time, there was a chance they would have avoided disability.
Despite the tragic news, Jesy has decided to keep filming her Prime Video series.
She said: “I just hope people continue to watch the next part of the journey.
“When the girls got their diagnosis, we decided that we wanted to continue filming.
“As hard as it was, we were like, ‘You know what? There’s a reason you guys are here, and we’ve got to make the best out of this situation’.”
