RIO and Kate Ferdinand have headed to the Maldives after fleeing missile-hit Dubai earlier this month.
The couple relocated to the UAE last year, uprooting their South London life for the sunshine, but have been left fearing for their safety amid the conflict hitting the area.
When missile strikes began to hit Dubai, Kate and Rio revealed they had been forced to sleep in the basement of their Dubai mansion.
Earlier this month, Rio shared a snap from Portugal as he confirmed the family had escaped the UAE for a sunny retreat in Europe.
And following the spot of sun, the family headed home to the UK to support Rio’s son, Tate, as he signed with sporting agent New Era Global Sports, amid his blooming football career.
Now, Rio has confirmed that he is in the Maldives with a new Instagram snap.
The former footballer is running a football holiday camp by Football Escapes, a company he co-owns, for budding young players in the sunny destination.
And it seems his son, Cree, is going to be joining in on the camp too, as Rio shared a snap with the youngster dressed in a kit.
Kate is thought to be with her husband and kids in the beach destination, despite not posting anything since the family left Dubai.
Rio and Kate are living in Dubai with their children Cree, five, and Shae, two, and Rio’s 14-year-old daughter, Tia, from his first marriage.
His elder two sons, Tate and Lorenz, have remained in the UK to focus on their football careers as they follow in their dad’s footsteps in the sport.
As Iran’s rockets hit the middle east in a blitz earlier this month, Kate and Rio admitted it was a terrifying time for their uprooted family.
Sharing a statement to Instagram at the time, former TOWIE star Kate said: “Thank you for all of your messages and sorry for the silence, I haven’t wanted to worry you all I just haven’t been able to find the words. We are safe.
“The government are doing an amazing job of keeping it that way and despite my nerves I feel we are in very safe hands.”
She added: “We are hoping for a calmer evening tonight, last night was very scary. Although Cree and Shae loved it as they couldn’t believe we all got a sleepover in the basement.
“Thank you for all of your prayers, this whole experience is very eye-opening and I am praying for anyone affected. Lots of love to everyone”.
