THE ESTRANGED wife of Gladiator star Jet has slammed the BBC for allowing the star to return to the show following a domestic abuse row.
Jet, whose real name is Diane Youdale, soared to fame on the hit show Gladiators from 1992 to 1996 and has recently attended the show’s live tour and Birmingham’s Gladiators Experience.
She was married to Zoe Gilbert for just 18 months, with their relationship taking a downward spiral before their split early last year.
Last February, the TV star admitted to attacking her then-wife during a vicious row in 2023, claiming she had been ‘tipped over the edge’ by Zoe.
And now, Zoe has shared her frustration at the Gladiator being allowed back into the TV show’s fold following the altercation.
“I was shocked to discover that Diane is being allowed back into the Gladiators show and amazed that the BBC would want her anywhere near it,” Zoe told MailOnline.
She continued: “If this was a man who had behaved in the way that she has, there would be outrage and they would be allowed nowhere near a family show like Gladiators.
“Even if you take Diane’s own word for it, she admits that she physically assaulted me.”
Zoe then claimed that the reality is “so much worse” than Diane has divulged.
The physical altercation happened back in 2023 and ended with police being called to the house the couple shared at the time.
Last February, Diane admitted: “Eventually, I snapped. She fell over the back of the sofa. I pressed on her chest three times firmly and I said, ‘stop this now’.
“I can’t remember what happened then. The next thing I knew I was being led out by the police,” she said at the time.
While Diane went on to clarify that it wasn’t all from her side, Zoe claims it was.
“The walls of the house were spattered with blood and I was left with all kinds of injuries, although I was so frightened I could not remember clearly what happened,” said Zoe.
She also claimed to MailOnline that Diane threatened to ‘kill’ her during a traumatic phone call in November last year.
However, Diane hit back to the publication that the claims are ‘ridiculous’ and slammed Zoe as a ‘fantasist’.
The pair had met in the aisles of a supermarket in 2022 before marrying a year later.
Rising to fame on Gladiators, Diane left the show in 1996 after suffering a 40ft fall in the Pole Axe stunt, crushing her nose after she hit the airbags.
She went on to star on TV shows, present dance shows and train as a psychiatrist.
