THIS is the bizarre moment cops on paddleboards chase a fleeing suspect after he leapt into the sea to try to escape custody.
Chase Cruz, 28, bolted from police as he was being read his Miranda rights in a Florida neighbourhood.
Daytona Beach Shores cops sprinted after Cruz as he headed straight for a river.
In shaky bodycam footage, one officer can be heard saying: “We got one running.”
Fully clothed, Cruz swims away deeper into the Halifax River.
Off camera, two cops mount paddleboards to pursue Cruz into the murky water.
They can be seen straddling the boards as Cruz put his hands in front of him in surrender.
One officer gets into the water to help lift Cruz onto the paddleboard with the help of a flotation aid.
They even handcuff him to a buoy so he can’t try to swim further away.
He’s then brought to shore and lifted by a team of officers to safety.
Cruz is soaked and looks like he’s shivering from the daring escape attempt.
Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said he was charged with loitering, prowling, and resisting arrest.
It comes as a heated Costco brawl reportedly ended with an axe to a shopper’s face.
The fight allegedly broke out after one member tried to get another’s membership card suspended at a Florida Costco gas pump.
Valeria Andrea Aguilar, 29, was allegedly screaming at other shoppers and the gas station attendant, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
Another member then drove up “and told the gas station attendant to revoke (her) Costco membership,” local station WPLG reported.
The move prompted an intense reaction from Aguilar, police say.
Aguilar allegedly ran after the woman’s vehicle on foot, then getting into her car and following her for around half a mile.
After confronting the woman, Aguilar punched her through the car window, according to police.
She then “grabbed the victim’s clothing and scratched her face, arms and chest,” the outlet reported.
The victim then allegedly jumped into self-defense mode, hitting Aguilar with an “axe/multitool.”
Aguilar was arrested on one charge of burglary with assault or battery, according to WTVJ.
