COVERED in blood, terrified Shana Walker could only beg for mercy as her partner dragged her into the shower and switched on the cold water.

Little did she know, her nightmare was only just beginning.

For twisted Jason Lamb held the shower head against her face, pumping cold water into her eyes, nose and mouth.

Gasping and choking, Shana feared she was going to die before he released her minutes later.

For Shana, it was the final act of degradation in their hellish relationship, and she reached out for help.

Earlier this month, Lamb, 27, was convicted of suffocation, strangulation and controlling and coercive behaviour. He was jailed for these and other offences for seven and a half years.

ACT OF DEFIANCE

TWISTED ACT

My ex abused me with wooden spoon but my secret recording saved me from death

Mum of three Shana, 30 says: “I thought Jason was my perfect man and I gave up everything for him. In the end, I was terrified he would kill me.

“I feel so relieved he’s in prison where he can no longer hurt me or anyone else. It’s only looking back, now that I’m out of it, that I can see what a monster he is.”

Shana believed Jason was her dream man after meeting him early in 2024 at the school gates in the Cheshire village where they both lived.

She says: “My son was in the same class as his nephew and so we became friends. At first, we just chatted.

“We both had partners, but I was very unhappy in my relationship. Jason was flirty, he asked for my number, and we started an affair.”

Shana left her partner immediately and Jason moved in with her soon after but she says the relationship quickly became toxic.

Shana says: “At first, I thought we were destined to be together, and he’d say the same.

“I was infatuated by him, head over heels in love. I believed we had a connection I’d never had with anyone else.

“But very quickly, he became jealous and controlling. He encouraged me get a tattoo of his name on my neck, where everyone could see it.

“He didn’t like me going to work as a cleaning supervisor because there were men on a site next door. He took control over my car and my phone, regularly changing my passcode so I had no access. He was in charge of all my money.

“I knew his behaviour was wrong, but I had given up so much to be with him.

“I felt guilty at the hurt we’d caused so I felt I had to stick it out. I couldn’t just walk out at the first sign of trouble.”

But that Christmas, Jason became enraged with jealousy when Shana posted a selfie, and attacked her, biting her finger and squeezing her throat. Her mother, Fleur, 52, and sister, Mia, 19, witnessed the attack and reported him to police.

Shana later forgave him and the pair moved into their own place together.

She says: “My family were horrified when I took him back, but I was blinded by my relationship and convinced they didn’t want me to be happy.

“Slowly, I was alienated from everyone who cared for me, Jason didn’t let me see my friends and he eventually forced me to quit my job.

Domestic abuse – how to get help

DOMESTIC abuse can affect anyone – including men – and does not always involve physical violence.

Here are some signs that you could be in an abusive relationship:

  • Emotional abuse – Including being belittled, blamed for the abuse – gaslighting – being isolated from family and friends, having no control over your finances, what you where and who you speak to
  • Threats and intimidation – Some partners might threaten to kill or hurt you, destroy your belongings, stalk or harass you
  • Physical abuse – This can range from slapping or hitting to being shoved over, choked or bitten.
  • Sexual abuse – Being touched in a way you do not want to be touched, hurt during sex, pressured into sex or forced to have sex when you do not consent.

If any of the above apply to you or a friend, you can call these numbers:

Remember, you are not alone.

1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men will experience domestic abuse over the course of their lifetime.

Every 30 seconds the police receive a call for help relating to domestic abuse.

“I kept leaving him, but he kept talking me round. By now, I didn’t have anyone else in my life. I thought my family had disowned me. My self-confidence was shattered.”

Lamb was regularly violent to Shana, biting her hand, punching and kicking her.

Over the summer of 2025, he strangled Shana on her bed until she lost consciousness. On another occasion, as she was fleeing him, he jumped from a window, wrestled her to the ground and strangled her as she lay on the grass.

In September 2025, Lamb accused Shana of having an affair and punched her whilst she lay in bed. In self-defence she hit out and his nose bled.

She says: “He held me down and dripped his blood onto my face, to humiliate me.

“Then he dragged me into the shower naked and held the shower head at full blast right over my face so that I was suffocating.

“I couldn’t breathe. The water was up my nose, and I was gasping, then choking. He was waterboarding me.

“It was terrifying. I thought I was going to die. It lasted a few minutes, before he started laughing.”

Realising her life was in danger, but powerless to help herself, Shana secretly messaged her sister, saying: ‘I need to get out before he kills me.’

She says: “I thought my sister had disowned me, but she called the police and offered to help me. That was the start of me getting my life back.”

Lamb was arrested in September 2025 after a police chase where he was recorded driving at 60mph in a residential area and mounting a grass verge in an area where children were playing.

The pursuit was abandoned on safety grounds, but he was later spotted with the help of a police helicopter and detained.

Last week at Chester Crown Court, Lamb, 27, was convicted of three counts of strangulation, controlling and coercive behaviour and intentional suffocation against Shana.

He was also convicted of controlling and coercive behaviour, criminal damage and animal cruelty in relation to another partner, and also dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance and possession of a weapon.

He was jailed for seven and a half years.

Shana says: “I am glad the court case is over, but I still feel very traumatised. I’m focussing on spending time with my children and my family and rebuilding the relationships which Jason ruined.

“I feel lucky to have a second chance. Looking back, I realise how easily he could have killed me. I’d urge anyone else in an abusive relationship please to speak up and ask for help.”
