MICHAEL GOMEZ JR admits he is desperately fighting to save his career against Jordan Flynn.
The 31-year-old is the son of Manchester boxing great Michael Sr – who alongside Ricky Hatton provided the city with iconic nights.

But Gomez Jr has not yet lived up to those same impossible heights – despite amassing a respectable 21-2 record.
A hand injury and inactivity has left him at a career standstill – believing he is one loss from calling it a day.
Gomez Jr returns on Saturday at the Co-op Live against 13-1-1- Flynn.
It is the sort of occasion the avid Man City fan lives for – but understands may not come again unless he wins.
Gomez Jr told SunSport: “Every time I’ve stood on that ramp in Manchester, whether it’s been the Co-op, the MEN, it’s special.
“I’m from Manchester, mate. I’ve seen my dad, the Hattons and I’m there every time.
“It’s just a surreal moment for me and I don’t ever want them moments to go. But unfortunately if I don’t win this fight, they’re probably gonna go.
“So yeah, this is a must-win regardless, no matter what.”

Gomez was beaten in his last fight by Reece Bellotti in February 2025, having pulled out of their initial October 2024 bout through illness on the night itself.
The year out of the ring paved the way for surgery on his busted hand but has also left him believing it is now all-or-nothing.
Gomez’s dream of winning the British title – like his dad did before him – now rests on beating 29-year-old Flynn.
He said: “After being out injured so long and so desperate to get back, I need to win. I need these big nights, they just do something for me inside.
“They give me that fire, I just love them. And I just don’t want to end just yet.
“But if I’m not good enough, mate, then I’m one of them people that can live with that. Unfortunately sometimes you’re just not good enough.
“And I wouldn’t be one of these guys who’ll just then go, I’ll just take this fight and get paid and the money doesn’t, it doesn’t matter to me.
“Like don’t get me wrong, everyone loves money and you need money but fighting for money isn’t my motivation, I fight to win. I wanna win the British title.
“I need to win I need to for my own sanity and if I don’t win this fight, I’m probably never gonna win that because I’m probably never gonna be good enough. So unfortunately it will be the end.”
