ALEJANDRO GARNACHO has apologised after being convicted of speeding last August.
The Chelsea winger, 21, was fined £660 and issued with three points on his license after pleading guilty at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court.
Garnacho‘s offence occurred on August 26 last year, four days before he signed for the Blues.
The Argentine was caught driving at 50mph in a 40mph zone in his black Audi RS 3 by a speed camera located near Manchester United‘s Carrington training centre.
His lawyers said: “Mr Garnacho accepts that he committed the offence of exceeding the speed limit and has pleaded guilty to the offence.
“Mr Garnacho explains this was an oversight on his part and apologises for the offence.
“Our client is embarrassed that he is currently in this position and apologises to the Court for the excess speed offence.”
The footballer was also accused of failing to respond to letters from Greater Manchester Police regarding the incident.
These letters had been sent in October asking him to identify the driver of his car.
This charge was later dropped in exchange for Garnacho entering a guilty plea.

Garnacho spent last summer frozen out of the Man Utd squad as he pushed for a move away.
His final appearance for the Red Devils came as a substitute in last May’s Europa League final defeat to Tottenham.
He has so far played 20 times in the Premier League for Chelsea, scoring once, while making 36 appearances in all competitions.
Most recently he came on as a half-time substitute in last Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at Everton.
