PLANS for Australia’s 2032 Olympic Stadium have been revealed six years out from the Games.
A brand new 63,000-seater ground will be built from scratch, and initial concept images have finally been released of inside the ground.
With a location set for a “central position” in Victoria Park, as reported by ABC News, work will begin later this summer.
Early artist impressions of designs show a stunning bowl-like arena which will be similar to the giant Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The MCG has a capacity of over 100,000 and is the largest in the southern hemisphere.
Brisbane’s Olympic Stadium won’t be that big but is set to follow the same blueprint.
Cox and Hassell, who were picked by the government to draw up plans, have worked on Perth’s swanky Optus Stadium (opened in 2018), the Adelaide Oval redevelopment, and the MCG itself.
The massive stadium, which conceptually includes three tiers of stands in a circular build with a wide-brimmed roof not covering the playing area, will cost a reported £1.88billion.
In total, Australia are expected to pump over £3.7bn into the country for the games.
Although a final location for the ground has not been revealed, its place at Victoria Park, near Gilchrist Avenue on the north-eastern side, has been slated.

That position marks it out for ideal transport links and videos released earlier this year include a massive bridge leading up to the arena.
With fans able to walk up to and around the ground, viewing it from afar through the trees and grassy areas, it stands in the backdrop of beautiful local scenery.
After images of the stadium from the outside were unveiled at the start of 2026, new ones from inside the stands have now been published.
The ground is reported to have a set of fan zones and will be able to host athletics as well as both the opening and closing ceremonies.
Aussie Rules Football will be played there, as will cricket.
The stadium will actually become the new home for cricket in the state after plans to revamp the Gabba were scrapped.
Instead, the iconic ground will be destroyed.
Australia will have a lush new stadium to boast, though, and Cox architecture director Richard Coulson said: “The importance of long views, capturing cooling breezes, and the essential provision of shade, all embody the relaxed way of life that Queenslanders cherish- qualities that are integral to our culture.”
There has been opposition to the project from a group called Save Victoria Park.
Spokesperson Rosemary O’Hagan said: “This latest tranche of greenwashed computer imagery is not real.
“What’s real are the ancient trees, rolling hills, and native wildlife the government intends to obliterate for what could become one of history’s most environmentally disastrous Olympic Games.”
Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie, when asked about the protests, said: “My response to Save Victoria Park? Loopy. Next question.
“Save Victoria Park are just a bunch of nimbys who don’t want anything to happen.
“This park was a golf course. Before it was a golf course, it was a dump for goodness sake.”
