JAMIE Laing and Sophie Habboo have taken a swipe at “staged” Made In Chelsea and have revealed why they decided to film their son Ziggy’s birth for their new reality show.
The couple are all set for the release of their new Disney+ series, Raising Chelsea, which will begin streaming on the platform next month.
Viewers saw Jamie, 37, and Sophie, 31, fall in love on the E4 show but it looks like they’re not trying to stick to the set up scenes and wanted to be “real” with their new show.
Explaining their reasons for agreeing to do the series, Jamie said: “I think the reason why Soph and I really wanted to do this is because I think the world is a little bit upsetting and there’s a lot of just noise out there, which is not that great.
“But actually, there is a lot of love out there and a lot of realness and a lot of authenticity.
“And we thought if we could create a show that wasn’t really just about drama and about this and that, but actually wholesome, made people laugh, show a true, real, raw journey of going through pregnancy together as a couple, the ups and downs, the lefts and the rights.

“We thought that it would be an interesting show. And so, when Soph and I went into this, we said, “Well, if we’re going to do this, we’re going to be really real. We’re not going to stage anything, we’re not going to do a Made in Chelsea where we’re going to set up scenes. We’re just going to do it properly.”
“And so, we thought that’s what we wanted to do. We went for it.”
The husband and wife announced the arrival of their baby boy Ziggy in December last year.
Viewers will get to see the moment their son was born, with cameras being present for the birth.
Sophie revealed that she wasn’t initially keen on having the birth filmed but was keen on showing her real life to audiences.
She expressed: “With the birth scene, we really didn’t expect to go in there.
“I didn’t actually want to film that, but it’s there and it’s real and that is the story and that is what happened. I’ve just gone for it.”
Jamie added: “Can I just caveat that I didn’t force Sophie to film the birth scene!”
New mum Sophie confirmed: “No, what actually happened was my anaesthetist took my phone and filmed the whole thing!
“When I’d given birth and we were looking through the photos, we were like, “Oh my God, the whole thing’s been filmed.”
“And actually, it made us feel really emotional and obviously it was the greatest day of our lives.
“We thought “Do you know what? It happens, it’s real life” and we put it in there.”
The pair welcomed their first child back in December as they took to Instagram to share the news.
Alongside a photo of their baby boy, Jamie wrote: “Ziggy, you have our whole hearts.”
They were flooded with messages from fans and famous pals as Rylan Clark said: “Congrats you two xxx.”
“Congratulations guys,” weighed in Strictly judge Motsi Mabuse. “A new journey begins.”
“You did it mama,” wrote Jessie J.
Raising Chelsea will be streaming from Thursday 2nd April 2026 on Disney+
