JOE COLE has urged Liam Rosenior to make a shock swoop for Micky van de Ven this summer.
The Chelsea legend believes that the Tottenham Hotspur defender would be a perfect fit at Stamford Bridge.
Rosenior, 41, enjoyed a positive start in the Blues’ dugout but the club has started to struggle in recent weeks.
Chelsea were well beaten 3-0 at the Hill Dickinson on Saturday as Everton dealt a huge blow to their Champions League hopes.
The West Londoners have lost their last four games in all competitions and conceded 12 goals in the process.
The defence is starting to creek under Rosenior and Cole believes the answer could be at the club’s rivals.
Van de Ven, 24, has been tipped with an exit from Spurs this summer following the club’s shocking season.
The North London outfit are amid their second relegation battle in consecutive seasons.
Cole, 44, thinks that Chelsea should swoop in for the Dutchman as he would fit into Rosenior’s backline.
He said: “Micky van de Ven from Tottenham.

“He’s brilliant.”
Barcelona were reportedly lining up a cut-price move for Van de Ven this summer.
The LaLiga giants are keen on signing a left-sided defender to boost their options at the back.
However, recent reports have suggested that the Spanish side have dropped their interest in the £35million-rated star and have moved on to a new target.
It is claimed that Barcelona are now after Van de Ven’s team-mate Luka Vuskovic who is impressing on loan at Hamburg.
