Lindsey Vonn hits major recovery milestone as she stuns fans with workout just over a month on from nearly having her leg amputated

Lindsey Vonn took a major step forward on her journey to recovery, just over a month after she suffered a devastating Winter Olympics injury.

The USA icon, 41, made a miraculous comeback at the Milan-Cortina Games last month, only to suffer a horrific broken leg 13 seconds into her run in the women’s downhill final on February 8.

The fracture was so severe that back in February it was feared that she may be forced to have the limb amputated. However, following multiple surgeries in both Italy and the United States, the skiing legend was allowed to return home.

Now, Vonn has proven that she has bounced back faster than fans expected as she showed off her incredible progress.

The former gold medalist was back in the gym this week, sharing a video of her workout to social media on Saturday.

Vonn proved that she has no intentions of slowing down anytime soon as she flawlessly executed six pull-ups in the clip. She then fist-bumped her trainer before strapping back into her crutches.

She had been dreaming of a second gold medal when she embarked on a remarkable return to the Olympics in Milan-Cortina.

But she suffered heartbreak when she crashed after clipping the second gate of her final run. She was heard screaming after the crash as she was surrounded by medical personnel before being strapped to a gurney and flown away by helicopter.

Following her crash, she underwent four surgeries in Italy and another in the US. Most recently, Vonn reportedly had a six-hour procedure aimed at rebuilding the leg and covering the skin to avoid infection.

Vonn last month joked that she is now ‘bionic’ after the five surgeries left her with dozens of metal screws in her leg.

Her body already contained titanium implants after she underwent a reconstruction in her right knee back in 2024.

Vonn launched her second career comeback shortly after the reconstruction, ending a five-year retirement. Remarkably, she triumphed at the opening women’s World Cup downhill of the season.

But then disaster struck a week before the Winter Olympics when she tore her ACL in a crash at Crans-Montana in Switzerland.

The American claimed that the existing injury had no influence over what happened at the Olympics and remarkably vowed to ski again one day in the future.

Vonn has been documenting every step of her brutal ordeal and earlier this month she posted a clip from the gym.

‘Guys… I’m biking!’ she wrote alongside a short video of her on an exercise bike. ‘Starting with 5 minutes… making progress one day at a time,’ Vonn added.
