The TV legend, 87, stressed he is now “fine” after treatment.

Opening up about his outlook on life, Johnny has said he wants to make the most of his remaining years and “spend it with a smile on my face”.

Johnny, best known for presenting shows like Play School and Think of a Number, was diagnosed with prostate cancer in August 2022.

Speaking to The Mirror, Johnny recalled his battle with the disease.

Johnny Ball accused of Islamophobic remarks after calling Islam ‘violent’

The former Strictly contestant said: “I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in August 2022 and, thankfully, after three months of daily radiation treatment, starting in September, I’m through it, I’m fine.”

Johnny says he is now managing to remain upbeat despite having faced his fair share of trauma over the years.

He said: “I’ve been kicked in the teeth in every possible way by life and by situations and by people.

“But I still cannot help but smile. I have my wife, my dog, my life. I’m very happy with my life. I’m happy that I’m still fit at 87.”

Reflecting on his mortality, he added: “By rights, I don’t have long left.”

Johnny previously feared the worst when he was first diagnosed.

The presenter previously admitted he feared he could be “coming to the end” when he was first diagnosed, even discussing it with wife Dianne.

Johnny has since described surviving cancer as a “wonderful relief” and says he feels blessed to have more years with his loved ones.

The TV star went on to reveal how he keeps in shape with a simple six to seven-minute daily workout.

He said: “First, I do a simple bending and stretching routine that lasts about two and a half minutes, the speed I do it at. And then I lift my two 2kg dumbbells for two and a half minutes.

“My daily routine is six to seven minutes at the most, but it keeps me incredibly fit.”

He also attributes his fitness levels to his balanced diet, including cereal with prunes and the occasional beer.

Johnny is set to release his second memoir, Stories That Must Be Told!, which is set for release on March 28.

A dad of three, Johnny shares daughter Zoe Ball with his first wife Julia, and has two sons, Dan and Nick, with wife Dianne.

Last year, Zoe, 54, revealed her “dear mama’s” Julia’s death after a battle with pancreatic cancer, admitting the family were left “bereft”.
