Wright appeared in season 22 and 23 of ITV’s The Only Way Is Essex, both of which aired in 2018.

He had moved to Thailand just weeks before the tragic discovery of his body in a canal.

The grim find was made on the popular holiday island of Phuket.

Cops rushed to the scene near the idyllic Bang Tao Beach.

Wright was floating face-down, barefoot and wearing a grey shirt and black pants, police said.

But there were signs of a struggle or an assault.

Wright’s key card for a nearby hotel was still in his pocket and a new iPhone 17 had been left on the bank nearby.

The star was reportedly captured on CCTV pacing erratically outside the CoCo Hotel before he was discovered at around 12:30pm local time on Saturday.

Hotel staff told police he had checked in alone and was due to leave the hotel on March 13 – but he never checked out.

An autopsy is being carried out to determine his exact cause of death and whether alcohol or drugs were involved.

Heartbreaking tributes have been shared by Wright’s friends and fans – one pal called him a “really special soul”.

Another said: “Oh Jord, gone way too soon. Rest in peace darling.”

Fellow TV star Chloe Brockett wrote in an emotional tribute “Rest in peace Jordan” followed by a red heart emoji.

Local Police Chief Sutthirak Chuthong previously confirmed that the body had been identified as a British national.

He added that Wright’s hotel had been unable to contact him, saying: “A search of the room revealed no signs of forced entry or other irregularities.”

Lieutenant Colonel Thongchai Matitham added: “At around 12.30pm on Saturday, March 14, a worker from Myanmar harvesting morning glory vegetables came across the body and alerted the police station.

“An iPhone 17 was discovered on the bank nearby and had not fallen into the water.

“We later found a key card for the COCO Hotel in his pocket, which helped us identify him as Jordan Wright.

“No other valuables were found, and the deceased was not wearing shoes.”

Matitham added: “CCTV footage showed that he appeared restless and was moving back and forth in front of the hotel before leaving the area.

“His movements eventually led to the location where his body was later discovered.”

A full investigation has been launched.

An FCDO Spokesperson told The Sun: “We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Thailand and are in contact with the local authorities.”
