The much-loved soap star, 68, revealed at the beginning of the year that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer.

She wrote: “First day back to work today and it was so lovely to see everyone, even though I am now totally shattered and ready to sleep!

“Don’t worry, I’m taking it as easy as I can, but being out the house is good for my brain.”

In the video post, she explained: “Well, I have just completed my first proper day at work and it was amazing, but we set off at half seven this morning, and I’ve just got in the house now, so it’s been a long day.

TOUGH TALK

Beverley Callard shamed by fans for working while fighting cancer

“I have to tell you, I’m knackered. I’ve been in back to back scenes all day and so it was hard…”

As she instructed her two dogs to stop bothering her, she said: “Enough. Now enough.”

She continued: “I know lots of you are telling me you shouldn’t be back at work yet, it’s too much, but my job is not physical.

“Let’s face it, I’m not going down a mine. It’s not hard that way at all and the problem is, if I don’t go back to work, I just sit at home ruminating and turning it all over in my head.

“It was great to see everybody and yes I’m tired, but I’ve had a really good day.

“Tomorrow’s another long day and then Friday is a really easy day, so thank you for your messages.

“I know you all care about me so much and I appreciate it – and I wish I could reply to everybody.

“I’m really trying my best and I’m sending love to everybody else who’s going through this, believe me.”

She concluded: “I’m now going to take all this make-up off and sit in my pyjamas and learn tomorrow’s scenes.”

Famous friend GK Barry got distracted by her furry friends and commented: “Bev, the size of your dogs. They are mini horses.”

Bev replied: “They are indeed.”

Another follower noted: “Your doggies are so beautiful and well trained. They were obviously so happy to see you home, but when you said ‘Enough’, they backed off. Bless! You’re doing amazing Bev.”

“Looking fabulous… we’re all cheering you on Bev. Ps. your dogs are beautiful,” agreed a user.

“What breed are your beautiful doggies?” inquired a third.

“You’re looking beautiful as ever Bev. Your dogs are beautiful too,” gushed a fan.

The star has returned to the RTE soap set just weeks after she revealed she had her lymph nodes removed as a precaution to stop her cancer spreading, not long after her diagnosis.

She has also been on hand to promote the upcoming I’m A Celebrity… South Africa, which just had its glitzy launch.

The pre-recorded ITV spin-off show, which also stars Mo FarahHarry Redknapp and Ashley Roberts, was filmed last year.

Beverley first revealed her shocking health news in January on Patrick Kielty’s Late Late Show in Ireland, and said: “My head was a bit mashed for the first few days.

“It’s very early stages and, along with thousands of other women, I need an operation and some radiotherapy.”

The Sun recently revealed how she banks €4,000 a week for the new soap role — just shy of long-serving star Tony Tormey’s €4,500 — and it has helped her start a new life in Dublin.

The long-running soap, which first aired in 1989, follows the day-to-day lives of families in the fictional Dublin suburb of Carrigstown.

Bev plays Lily, a quirky, sharp and unpredictable beautician who previously worked on cruise ships.

But the actress will always be best known for playing the no-nonsense Liz McDonald in Corrie.
