Shamed police officer jailed for having illicit flings with two criminals has rebranded herself as a prison influencer after being released early

A shamed police officer who had illicit flings with two criminals has been released after serving just nine months of a near four-year sentence – and is now flaunting her freedom on TikTok

Former Greater Manchester Police constable Choni Kenny, 28, was caught on camera kissing her drug dealer lover while in uniform at Forest Bank prison in Salford.

When they split, she embarked on a fling with another criminal associate and tipped him off about a planned police firearms raid.

Kenny was handed a three-year and nine-month sentence last April after admitting misconduct offences and passing on confidential police information.

But after being freed from HMP Askham Grange near York in January, Kenny has rebranded herself online as an ‘ex-prisoner breaking the stigma’, posting TikTok videos about jail life – while also plugging cosmetic treatments to clients.

The ex-officer posted jubilant pictures of her being met by family members at the gates of the women-only open prison, once home to road-rage killer Tracie Andrews and child killer Mary Bell.

In one of her videos, Kenny remarkably described her prison routine as ‘easy’, telling followers: ‘Three meals a day, roof over your head, nice warm bed, work nine till five, get paid every week.

‘You don’t need more than 30-odd pounds a week. What more could you want?

‘For me, it’s more a case of maybe the life that you had before you went is what you miss and you thrive.’

In another, she tells followers prison was not like television and recalls being handed ‘toast on a blue plastic plate and a cup of tea in a beaker’ when she first arrived at her first prison, HMP Styal, admitting she thought: ‘I’m f****d.’

She went on: ‘I think I took in like maybe three gym sets, a bit of underwear and like two hoodies, a pair of trainers.

‘Had I have known that I wasn’t going to get a clothes parcel for around about a month then best believe I would have packed a suitcase.

‘Like I’m talking, “we’re going away on an all-inclusive two weeks new outfit every single day”.

‘They give you like greys [prison issue clothing], they were all brand new and there was not a cat in hell’s chance I was wearing that.’

Kenny was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court in April last year after pleading guilty to four offences of misconduct in public office and one count of conspiracy to commit misconduct.

The shamed officer, who worked in GMP’s City of Manchester district, funded and delivered 20 illicit mobile phones so Josh Whelan, 31, could stay in touch with her from behind bars.

Kenny entered into illicit relationships with both men

She was caught on CCTV embracing her lover in a waiting room at the jail.

Kenny was later found to have entered into a relationship with Rahim Mottley, 28 – a burglary suspect under investigation by GMP who had fled to Spain – and unlawfully passed him police intelligence.

Now free, Kenny is back on social media documenting life after prison and portraying herself as a changed woman.

She posts videos of her gym trips and meals out while promoting herself as a self-employed beautician offering anti-wrinkle injections and skin boosters.

Describing her first night in prison, she said: ‘I got put behind my door, and I just sat there with my head in my hands.

‘My very first night on that wing was crazy. People were banging at the doors.

‘The heating was on and it was on full blast. People were banging on the pipes.

‘I remember the conversations that people were having. I lay there. No concept of time. No watch. No curtains. It was either daylight or darkness.

‘I basically didn’t have a pot to p***in there. Because I was fresh in jail, I didn’t know how it worked.’

Kenny has also used her account to offer tips to others facing jail, advising them to take gym sets, hoodies, trainers and sliders – adding: ‘You aren’t showering without shoes on your feet in there.’

She also told her 11,000 followers that she was now ‘glowing because I’m working on myself’, while lashing out at critics over her crimes.

Kenny said: ‘Just before anyone comes for me, yes, I know. It was my own fault. I know.

‘I’ve been judged. I don’t need bloody Dave from down the road to whack a comment in telling me “well, you shouldn’t have done what you did”.’

Kenny, from Stockport, Cheshire, had already been dismissed by the force before her sentencing, following a misconduct hearing on April 1, 2025.

At the time, Detective Chief Superintendent Mike Allen, head of GMP’s Professional Standards Directorate, said Kenny had ‘abused her position as a police officer’ and that her actions ‘plainly amounted to serious corruption’.

At her sentencing, the court heard Kenny had a ‘casual sexual relationship’ with Whelan and a ‘physical but casual’ relationship with former schoolmate, Mottley.

She also promised him that she would find out who the ‘local grasses’ were.

Sentencing Kenny at Liverpool Crown Court, Judge Neil Flewitt said: ‘Your actions were not motivated by a desire for a financial or other advantage or borne out of any malice.

‘They were a consequence of your naivety, immaturity and wish to maintain the friendship of Josh Whelan and Rahim Mottley.’

Mottley was jailed for two years and two months for conspiracy to commit misconduct in a public office.

Whelan was sentenced to two years and eight months after admitting possessing mobile phones in prison.
