As soon as Thiago’s name was confirmed, the room erupted in screams and celebrations — with his mum overcome with emotion as she wiped away tears of joy.

It marked a special milestone for the 24-year-old, who has enjoyed a stunning breakthrough season in the Premier League.

Thiago has hit 22 goals in all competitions this term, including 19 in the league, with only Erling Haaland scoring more in the top flight.

His red-hot form has now earned him a first senior summons from Brazil boss Carlo Ancelotti ahead of this month’s international fixtures.

Thiago’s performances this season have helped him edge into Ancelotti’s thinking—even if Brazilian legend Neymar was among the big names to miss out on the latest squad.

Neymar was left bitterly disappointed to miss out on this set of friendlies; however, he is determined to ensure he makes the plane to America for what will be his final World Cup.

Brazil are set to face France and Croatia in friendlies as they continue building towards this summer’s World Cup.

For Thiago, it is another huge reward in what has been a remarkable rise after injury wrecked much of his previous campaign.

The powerful frontman missed most of last season after suffering a serious knee problem not long after his big-money move from Club Brugge.

But he has bounced back brilliantly and become one of the Premier League’s most dangerous forwards.

Thiago’s form was already being watched closely by Brazil, with Brentford boss Keith Andrews previously revealing national-team staff had kept tabs on his progress.

And just weeks after signing a new contract to keep him in West London until 2031, he now has the chance to make his mark on the international stage too.

Thiago gives Brazil something a little different in attack, with his physical presence, hold-up play and clever movement offering another option through the middle.

He has also sharpened the technical side of his game this season, with his link-up play and composure helping turn him into a more complete striker.

For Thiago and his family, though, this was all about a dream coming true.

And judging by the tears, screams and hugs at home, it is one moment none of them will ever forget.
