THIS is the shocking moment a politician chucks an enormous tarantula down the stairs in a desperate Home Alone-inspired attempt to evict a tenant.
Marisa Simonetti, 32, has been convicted of domestic assault, harassment and disorderly conduct after going to extreme measures to kick out an Airbnb guest.
Horrifying footage shows the politician unleashing the animal.
She can be seen at the top of the stairs, poking her head into shot.
Simonetti is then caught on camera shaking an enormous live tarantula out of its cage.
The massive spider tumbles down the stairs as she blasts music and bangs pots and pans to try to force her Airbnb tenant to leave.
Several other small objects are dumped down the stairs following the spider.
Simonetti is running as an independent in the upcoming Senate election in Minnesota.
But the tarantula incident dates back to 2024, when she that Jackie Vasquez, 32, had been “squatting” in her basement.
At that time, the politician was standing as the Republican candidate for Hennepin County Commissioner – she lost that election.
Vasquez, an attorney, said she had paid $1,500 to stay in Simonetti’s property on Airbnb.
But things went wrong shortly after she moved in.
Simonetti claimed that she cancelled the attorney’s reservation after just two weeks because of Vasquez’s behaviour.
She said the tenant had been shouting on the phone late at night and sending her long, multi-paragraph texts.
Vasquez said that she had “desperately wanted” to leave but could not because of the “hostile environment” that her Airbnb landlady had created.
Simonetti told NBC that she made the dramatic decision to buy the tarantula after “police didn’t help” her to evict Vasquez.
She said: “I’m not a physically violent person, and I watched the movie Home Alone growing up, and I was like, you know what, this is such a strange situation.
“If I’m scared or hurt, I try and make jokes.
“And I was so scared, I was just like, I didn’t know what to do, and so, yeah, I got the spider.”
Simonetti said Vasquez had “barricaded” herself in the basement, claiming that the attorney slammed a door on her arm at one point.
The tenant claimed the politician and a man broke down the door to the basement, scaring her.
This triggered her to set up her laptop recording at the bottom of the stairs, while she hid.
The laptop captured the astonishing footage of Simonetti throwing the spider down the stairs.
Talking to KMSP at the time, Simonetti called herself “a silly goose”, claiming her dramatic eviction tactics were funny.
She said: “I mean, there is an element of humour to that movie, and at the end, what was I supposed to do?”
