A MAJOR shopping centre is set to become home to the UK’s largest EV charging hub.
Motorists will soon be able to power up their cars while hitting the shops.
Raw Charging has partnered with commercial property developer Landsec to install a total of 1,000 new chargers across 28 leisure hotspots.
As part of the initiative, Britain’s biggest electric car charging hub is being built at Bluewater shopping centre in Kent.
The huge site will offer dozens of ultra-fast chargers that can top up EVs in as little as 30 minutes.
This means drivers can charge up while they shop and dine, and return to a full battery.
The move is part of £24.5million push to keep up with a growing demand at high-footfall locations with more than 20 million visitors a year.
Drivers will be able to pay contactlessly or via major charging apps, making it easier to top up while going about their daily routine.
The rollout will also see older chargers upgraded or replaced, improving speed, reliability and accessibility across the network.
The scheme will bring charging points to major attractions including the National Trust, Merlin Entertainments sites like Legoland Windsor and Alton Towers, as well as McArthurGlen Designer Outlets and leading hotel chains.
