But after being interviewed by cops in his hometown of Hawick he was released without charge.

A source said: “A red flag appeared on his passport and he was collared by police.”

It’s thought he could now be banned from contacting his ex-wife altogether amid claims of a non-harassment order breach – as sources claimed he’d “once again been given an inch and taken a mile”.

The ex-Scotland captain was arrested by cops on his son Teddy’s first birthday for allegedly hassling Gillian Smith – mum to four of his kids.

Hogg, 33, is subject to a non-harassment order after admitting in 2024 to carrying out a five-year campaign of abuse against his former wife Gillian.

The order allows him to contact his ex on matters relating only to their four children – but the disgraced was accused of harassing her about personal subjects.

Hogg, who welcomed his son Teddy with his now ex, broadcaster and ex-jockey Leonna Mayor, was arrested in his hometown of Hawick, Roxburghshire, on February 12 – the tot’s first birthday.

The former Glasgow Warriors and Exeter Chiefs player  – who now plays for Montpellier – was released without charge, but sources say lawyers are preparing to call for an amendment to the order, to cease  direct contact with her all together.

A source said: “A red flag appeared on his passport as he flew into Manchester airport from France and he was collared by police.

“He was ordered to report to the station in Hawick. He was arrested and interviewed, but there wasn’t enough to charge him.

“He is allowed to message Gillian over an app to discuss only the kids , but once again, he’s given an inch and takes a mile.

“She’s hoping the order can be amended so that he will only be able to contact her through lawyers from now on.”

Hogg was finally stripped of his MBE last Thursday after more than a year of pressure on authorities to remove the medal the 100-times capped ex-Scotland skipper got for services to his sport.

The King announced the gong, awarded to the former Scotland captain, 33, in 2023, was now “cancelled and annulled”.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “A 33-year-old man was arrested in the Hawick area on Thursday, 12 February, 2026 in connection with a report of a breach of a non-harassment order.

“He was released without charge.”
