CHELSEA fans were left baffled as boss Liam Rosenior passed a note to his players in the 84th minute of the defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.
The Blues were humbled on home soil by the reigning champions of Europe – losing 3-0 on the night and 8-2 on aggregate.
Fans booed as Rosenior appeared to pull the plug at 2-0, taking off Enzo Fernandez, Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer seemingly to save them for the weekend.
Some then jeered again as Tosin Adarabioyo went on to replace Marc Cucurella.
With Trevoh Chalobah down receiving treatment seven minutes from time, Rosenior frantically began writing a note.
He then passed it to Garnacho, who jogged over to hand it to Tosin.
With the tie long since over, fans could not fathom what the manager had written.
One posted on X: “Alejandro Garnacho didn’t look convinced the moment Liam Rosenior passed the tactical note. Even Tosin looked clueless after receiving it.”
While a second responded: “Caicedo’s reaction was worse when Tosin tried to hand it to him.”
A third asked: “Why is Rosenior passing on a piece of paper to the pitch in the 85th minute down by 6??? What on earth could that note possibly say??????”

A fourth quipped: “It’s alright Rosenior in the nick of time has passed a note in the 87th minute 3-0 down at home. What a manager.”
Although another added: “Respect the man’s professionalism!!! 8-2 down in the 84th minute and Rosenior sends out a tactical note to his players.”
Chelsea always faced an uphill battled following last week’s 5-2 thumping in Paris.
Undeterred, the Blues continued with their much-discussed pre-match huddle ahead of kick-off.
But it didn’t do them much good, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia essentially ending the tie as a contest on just six minutes by profiting on some weak defending by Mamadou Sarr before firing past Robert Sanchez.
Bradley Barcola then darkened the mood at Stamford Bridge further by scoring a brilliant goal in the 14th minute.
By half-time some Chelsea fans had seen enough, with footage showing supporters streaming out of Stamford Bridge.
Those that stayed witnessed Rosenior’s controversial triple substitution – with PSG sub Senny Mayulu adding a third barely two minutes after the changes.
To compound the Blues’ misery, Chalobah had to be stretchered off late on.
Chelsea will be back in action this Saturday with a trip to Everton.
