
A MUM-of-two who runs her own children’s clothes boutique was sent a poo-stained romper with tags reattached by a customer who demanded a refund.
She issued an emotional plea to parents buying her pieces, admitting she is now nervous to open her returns in fear of what she might find.

Showing what looks like a nappy leak on one of her adorable frilly rompers, she told her 41.7k followers on her @minnieandmonty.co Instagram page that she was feeling disheartened.
She said, “As a small brand, situations like this are really disheartening and quite upsetting. It’s important that small businesses are treated fairly, too, and our return policies are respected.
“Of course, returns are a normal part of a retail business, especially online, but surely you wouldn’t take this return to a big retail store on the high street and expect a refund over the counter,” she added.
The soiled item also had the tags reattached, in the hope that she wouldn’t notice that it had been worn.

As well as poo-stained clothing to contend with, she also said how one customer had claimed their clothing hadn’t arrived at their address.
Then, to the business-owner’s surprise, she spotted the customer’s children wearing the clothes on a social media post.
She said: “I appreciate that times are tough for a lot of families but I’m not a huge company making millions that can just throw items away and each return like this does have an effect on my business.
“Every return is personally opened by me, and at this point, I’m worried about what I’ll be opening each time.
“I’m just a mum like all of you, who’s running a small business around raising my two boys. I’m not a big corporation.”
She’d also said how she often gets returns smelling of perfume or washing powder.
‘DISGUSTING AND DISHEARTENING’
She explained: “If you are unsure about whether you’re keeping your items, please keep them inside their packaging to protect them from odours in your home.
“Don’t hang them in a wardrobe as this can cause washing powder to transfer, and I cannot resell in this condition.”
She’d also had someone return a dress from October 2025, and they still expected a refund.
But to balance out her feelings of disappointment, the independent seller was inundated with supportive messages from loyal customers who were horrified by the disrespect she’d received.
“I honestly can’t believe people,” one wrote in the comment section.
“Utterly appalling, lovely!” another fumed.
A third added: “This is such an awful and dishonest thing to do. Unfortunately, there is some people with no morals out there. I’m sorry you had to go through this, as you’re such a kind and beautiful soul.”
“This is shocking, i’m sorry that your lovely business is having to deal with this,” wrote another.
Minnie and Monty was launched in 2013 under the name Styled In London, which was a womenswear brand.
When she relocated to Margate in 2017, her surroundings inspired her to tweak her business.
When her first baby was born, she decided to focus on babywear and give her company a rebrand: Minnie and Monty – named after her son.
