Placed at Paddy Power by an Irish pensioner, it has been lauded as one of the all-time great bets.

The 69-year-old male got the rub of the green with a Lucky 63 wager as all six of his selections came in.

A Lucky 63 bet is a combination bet made of 63 different bets of the same value placed on six selections.

The bet got off to a flyer with huge outsider Apolon De Charnie winning the opener.

Wilful and Dinoblue were then first past the post in the next two races.

The fourth bet saw Johnny’s Jury win at steep odds.

A bet on Gaelic Warrior at the Gold Cup then set up a nerve-wracking final race for the betting slip.

And on race six, Barton Snow came home to taste victory by a neck, and see the most unlikely of bets come in.

Paddy Power said of the bet: “What a sensational way to round off Cheltenham week – it’s one of the greatest bets of all-time.

“When a huge outsider wins the opener the groan from punters can usually be heard all across the Cotswolds, but this customer would have been cheering to the rafters, although little did he know then what was to come.

“I’ll be popping around his house later for his lotto numbers this weekend. Seriously, well played, and enjoy the winnings.”
