The legendary mare made it a sensational four wins in as many years at the iconic Festival.

She saw off closest rivals Brighterdaysahead and The New Lion to claim the crown.

Maverick owner Rich Ricci was left visibly emotional as he wildly celebrated the triumph in the winner’s enclosure.

And he had every right to be, with Lossiemouth’s historic victory banking him a staggering £260,000.

Her win capped off a spectacular opening day that started with a bang as Old Park Star romped home in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle.

Sober Glory had led the pack all the way until the final hurdle, but Nicky Henderson’s horse ultimately showed his elite class to win in style.

That made it four consecutive wins for Old Park Star and dealt a massive, early blow to the bookies.

But the bookmakers were thankful when they exacted their ruthless revenge the very next day.

Martator pulled off an astonishing victory in the Grand Annual at massive 66-1 odds.

Victory was sealed by the finest of margins in a dramatic photo finish with Jazzy Matty.

The snaps showed Martator was the victor by a nose, handing ecstatic jockey Charlie Deutsch just his second-ever Festival winner.

That coupon-buster followed a highly dramatic Champion Chase, which saw Il Etait Temps secure a huge win for legendary trainer Willie Mullins.

Majborough was the heavy favourite for the contest and built a significant lead, before suddenly falling away to finish seventh.

The biggest shock on the final day of the Festival saw outsider Apolon De Charnie win the JCB Triumph Hurdle against all odds.

Wilful was also an unexpected victor in the very next race, but there were no shocks in the hunt for Gold Cup glory.

Gaelic Warrior saw off the likes of Jango Baie and Harry Redknapp’s The Jukebox Man in the showpiece event.
