
DRIVERS have been warned of travel chaos after a motorcycle crash shut down a major motorway.
The M6 has been closed northbound within J20 M56 near Warrington.
Motorists have been urged to check their routes with delays of up to 20 minutes possible.
Officers from Cheshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit and an air ambulance have responded at the scene.
A National Highways spokesperson said: “The M6 is now CLOSED northbound within J20 M56 near Warrington due to a collision involving a motorcycle.
“Delays of at least 20 minutes on approach to the closure.“
National Highways confirmed delays are expected until between 11.15pm and 11.30pm.
Meanwhile traffic monitoring site Inrix reports: “M6 Northbound closed, queueing traffic due to accident at J20 M56 J9 (Lymm Interchange).”
