SPAIN and Argentina’s Finalissima clash has been plunged in uncertainty amid an ongoing dispute regarding the venue.
The blockbuster clash between the reigning Euro champions and Copa America winners is still scheduled to take place on March 27 at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar.
However, football chiefs may have to move the game to another ground due to the ongoing Iran war.
The Middle East has been rocked by retaliatory strikes following the assassination of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in joint US-Israeli airstrikes two weeks ago.
Qatar has been caught in the crossfire, with the Qatari Defense Ministry confirming they intercepted nine ballistic missiles and several drones just two days ago.
But the ongoing tension in the region has raised security fears and thus the match could be moved to Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu stadium.
Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin is very keen to stage the Finalissima in Madrid.
But AFA president Chiqui Tapia doesn’t agree and prefers to host the game in River Plate’s Monumental stadium.
Tapia tweeted: “Tonight we will be in dialogue with [CONMEBOL] President Alejandro Domínguez about the Finalissima.
“From the Argentine Football Association [AFA] and CONMEBOL, we believe that the Estadio Monumental is the ideal venue to host this great final.”

According to AS, however, the Monumental is already booked that day.
Legendary rock band AC/DC are scheduled to hold a concert in the Argentinean ground.
In the meantime, football chiefs will continue to monitor the situation in the Middle East.
