It comes after his father Robert Dorgan, 56, opened fire at an ice hockey game in Rhode Island on February 16 – killing three family members and also dying from self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

In an heart-warming tribute to his mum Rhonda, 52, brother Aidan, 23, and grandad Gerald, 75, Colin scored a double OT winner on Wednesday night.

His Beavers teammates mobbed him on the ice as they celebrated what Colin described as “the greatest moment of my life”.

The composed last-minute finish against Portsmouth in the final 48 seconds of the game sent his high school team to the Division II final.

Blackstone Valley Schools’ star captain said his mum, brother and grandad earned the assist as he wore a jersey with their initials on it during the match.

The school’s head coach Chris Librizzi said: “I literally cried like a baby, the floodgates opened.

“When I saw him open, I knew he was golden.”

Colin said: “My good buddy fed me the puck and I could hear the crowd.

“It was a surreal moment.”

The senior also told 12 News that his teammates have always been there for him – especially in the wake of the deadly shooting at Lynch Arena last month.

“We have to stick together,” Colin said.

“It’s a hard time for everyone. We have each other’s back and we truly love each other… These are my brothers.”

Librizzi also revealed how the entire hockey team rallied around Colin and his sister Ava following the tragedy.

“We got together every single day,” Librizzi said.

“We skated, worked out, or had dinner at night together for 14 days straight. I believe that made a difference.”

It comes after reports emerged that Rhonda, who had married the attacker in 1992, was the killer’s first cousin once removed.

Robert had also recently undergone gender reassignment surgery before the horror shooting.

Court documents show Rhonda filed for separation in 2020, writing “gender reassignment surgery” and “narcissistic personality disorder” as grounds for divorce.

A twisted image posted online shows a smiling Robert inked with a large SS symbol.

Several racist rants from the alleged killer have also been uncovered.

Robert praised Adolf Hitler, spoke out in support of “white power”, and spouted antisemitic views along with slurs, social media accounts linked to the suspect show.

It comes after Dorgan’s daughter Amanda Wallace-Hubbard, 36, revealed that she thought she and her sons were going to be killed next in the horror attack.

She told the New York Post: “I turned around and Rob was looking into my eyes, and I really felt like we were next.”

Relatives say the killer was on a mission to wipe out the entire family – but the rampage ended when a heroic bystander and Aidan bravely tried to wrestle the gun away.

Describing the moment their eyes met, Amanda said: “It feels very odd to say this, but I felt like I saw him communicating deep sadness.

“I witnessed him shooting my brother, and then I ducked for cover on top of my sons.

“I was really in fear for my son’s lives. At the time when the good Samaritans stepped in and really incapacitated him, we were the only members of the family who had not been shot.”

The shooter’s daughter explained that the shooting was “one person’s vendetta against their family”.

Amanda told WPRI: “We were targeted. This was very specific. It wasn’t random.“

She added that her killer dad “never really saw the error in his ways” and refused to get help for mental health issues.
