LIAM ROSENIOR said that he didn’t have a first-choice goalkeeper – and Filip Jorgensen has just proved him absolutely right.
After ditching Robert Sanchez for Aston Villa last week, Rosenior stuck with Jorgensen as his ‘first-choice’ keeper against Paris Saint-Germain, and the Dane failed in dramatic fashion.
It was Rosenior’s first taste of knockout football in the Champions League – he took a huge risk in putting Jorgensen in.
And while PSG’s third was the only goal that he was really at fault for, that was the one that opened the floodgates against Chelsea.
It was a tight, enthralling tie, and the Blues were getting back up off the canvas and punching back at PSG before the stopper’s awful mistake.
It wasn’t quite as bad as Antonin Kinsky for Spurs on Tuesday – but it was just as damning for his team.
PSG got a sniff after that third goal, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia going on to get two more, the first being a fantastic finish from the edge of the box and the second one that Jorgensen failed to keep out after getting a hand to it.
Now Chelsea’s task next week, with a three-goal deficit, is nearly impossible – and really it is all down to the keeper.
Chelsea looked at bringing in a new goalkeeper last summer.
They weighed up a move for AC Milan‘s Mike Maignan and didn’t get it over the line, saying they were happy with the keepers they already had.

But Wednesday showed that if they want to seriously compete for the Champions League and Premier League, they need to go out and get a proper first-choice goalkeeper.
Not one that fits a ‘project,’ but instead an experienced pair of hands that players can trust.
The players in front of Jorgensen put in so much fight to get back level with the champions of Europe, and he undid it all with one stupid moment.
