THE craze for “Dubai style” pistachio chocolate shows no sign of slowing, with the flavour still everywhere this Easter.

Not cheap but this is a real whopper.

A thick, decadent Belgian milk chocolate shell, hand-decorated with a layer of pistachio creme and roasted pistachio pieces.
It really looks the part and you can taste the pistachio.
I also loved the sage and gold box.

Happi Oat Milk Pistachio Crunch Chocolate Egg
155g, £12.99, Amazon
While the cartoon might appeal to kids, it seems a more adult flavour choice and great for anyone on a dairy-free or vegan diet.
But don’t let the lack of milk put you off.
It is creamy and I liked the nutty nibbles, although the flavour that came through most strongly was vanilla.
RATING: 3/5
The Best Pistachio Egg Trio
105g, £5, Morrisons
Pricey given their size but there’s a lot going on in one little egg.
A smooth milk chocolate outer contains a rich, creamy filling studded with crunchy and nutty pieces.
There is also Greek kataifi pastry which gives extra texture and interest.
The pistachio flavour was rather mild, though.

Irresistable Pistachio Chocolate Eggs
(x3), 100g, £3, Co-Op
Limited edition and very moreish, with a lovely Belgian chocolate outer shell.
Inside, there is a delicious ganache with a strong pistachio flavour. More like bite-size mini-truffles.
Don’t be surprised if you find yourself polishing off the whole bag in one sitting.
RATING: 4/5
Finest Pistachio Mini Egg Selection
(x6), 72g, £8, Tesco
They might look pretty but are barely larger than a mini choccie egg.
You’ll find more packaging than product.
A mix of milk, white and marbled Belgian chocolate egg shells, which were all on the sweeter side and not a great deal of pistachio flavour either.
RATING: 1/5
Moser Roth Pistachio Layer Egg
240g, £9.99 Aldi
Although the box looked a bit budget, the contents made up for it – as this really delivered on the pistachio nut flavour.
Fantastic thick chocolate shell with a quirky angular shape, so you get loads of those brilliant chunky pieces to enjoy.
And you can taste the white-chocolate lining.
RATING: 3/5
Lindt Pistachio Milk Chocolate Egg
260g, £15, various stores
A giant box – and what’s inside should get a good reaction thanks to a Lindt milk chocolate hollow shell.
The pistachio flavours are in the eight truffles separate from the egg.
They are extremely tasty, with a filling that delivers the proper flavour.
RATING: 4/5
Exceptional Pistachio and Himalayan Salt White Chocolate Egg
200g, £10, Asda
A very elegant egg with a creamy outer studded with proper pieces of pistachio nuts.
The pistachio paste inside tasted dreamy and the crystals of pink salt brings in a savoury, grown-up note.
RATING: 5/5
