Mollie King has revealed the horrifying moment she was shamed by Sharon Osbourne for wearing a “totally inappropriate” outfit.
The former The Saturdays’ singer, 38, admitted it showed her what real life could be like.
In 2005, Mollie, aged 18-years-old auditioned for The X=Factor where she performed her version of the Etta James classic I Just Wanna Make Love To You.
At the time, the show judges were Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Dannii Minogue and Sharon Osbourne.
However, Mollie wearing a sparkly gold top and skimpy white shorts was abruptly cut off by Sharon.
The TV personality then told her: “I think you’re dressed totally inappropriately.”
Speaking of the moment, Mollie, told The Times: “It gave me an example of what the real world can be like.“
But it wasn’t enough to put her off her dream of fame because two years later she went back with the band Fallen Angelz.
The group sang a version of Avril Lavigne’s Girlfriend and made it as far as the second round before facing elimination.
However, in a twist of fate Polydor Records executives watched the show and Mollie was invited to audition for a new girl group called The Saturdays.
Alongside Rochelle Humes, Frankie Bridge, Una Healy and Vanessa White, the group released four albums and quickly became a pop sensation.
Mollie recalled: “We had unbelievable experiences and I was able to enjoy them with my four best friends.”
As part of The Saturdays, Mollie has had 13 Top 10 and eight Top 5 singles, including the UK number-one hit “What About Us”.
While The Saturdays never officially disbanded, their last release What Are You Waiting For? came in 2014
Mollie has since established herself as a TV and radio presenter with BBC Radio 1.
She has also appeared BBC‘s Strictly Come Dancing, partnered with AJ Pritchard and the pair made finished in fifth place.
Mollie has two daughters called Annabella and Lilliana, with her fiancé, former cricketer Stuart Broad.
Shortly after Mollie gave birth to her second child, her husband took a trip abroad to be a sports commentator for the South African Premier T20 cricket league.
Speaking after his return she said: “He went to South Africa for five weeks quite soon after she was born, which wasn’t ideal timing, so my amazing mom and mother-in-law really stepped in and helped me out with that.
“But since he’s been back from South Africa. It has just been so lovely to have that family time while I’m on maternity leave.”
