LAUREN Goodger has seemingly confirmed her lengthy feud with former co-star Jess Wright is far from over – as fellow star Dani Imbert has taken a swipe at the latter.
Both Lauren and Jess were original castmembers of Towie – with Lauren in a long-term relationship with Jess’s brother Mark Wright – but had a famously rocky relationship.
Throughout Lauren and Mark’s relationship, his sister Jess and mum Carol were noticeably frosty towards her and would often refer to the relationship as toxic, failing to welcome her into the Wright family fold.
Lauren split from Mark, who is now married to Michelle Keegan, in 2012, and later publicly blamed his family for their break-up.
While 14 years may have passed, it seems there’s still some bad blood.
This week, Jess and her family came under fire for slamming girls who wear thong bikinis on their podcast, claiming that men don’t find them ‘sexy’.
This sparked a wave of backlash from fans, who assured they don’t wear bikinis for men, and even dug out snaps of Jess wearing thong bikinis,
Taking a swipe at Jess, Towie star Dani shared a new video of herself in a thong bikini and played the sound of Jess, Carol and younger sister Natalya slamming the fashion choice over the top of the clip.
Lauren took to the comment section to clearly choose her side, as she commented: “I LOVE this wow”.
As many laughed at Dani’s clear swipe, others were more amused at Lauren getting involved.
“The fact Lauren’s commented just makes this post,” wrote one fan.
Another said: “Lauren, you had a LUCKY escape”.
“Howling at you commenting on this!!!!,” wrote a third to Lauren.
While Lauren and Jess were known to have a very frosty relationship on-screen, the pair have not spoken about one another in recent years.
However, old clips from Towie often circulate on the internet, with one between Lauren and Jess’s mum Carol arguably the most famous of all.
The clip was filmed shortly after Lauren’s split from Mark and sees Carol being cold towards her as they bump into one another in the supermarket.
The history of Lauren vs Jess
Lauren Goodger and Jess Wright have never seen eye-to-eye, but what’s the reason for their decade-long feud?
2010
2010 was when we were first introduced to Lauren and Jess as the first series of Towie kicked off, with Lauren the longtime girlfriend of Jess’s younger brother Mark Wright.
Despite Mark and Lauren being together since they were teenagers, they had a turbulent relationship with Jess clearly didn’t approve of, with the star protective of her brother.
Jess often aired her reservations about the romance, creating a divide between Lauren and the Wrights.
During the show’s first season, Mark and Lauren celebrated getting engagement with a bash, but Carol and Jess make it clear they aren’t supportive of an impending wedding.
2011
During season two and beyond of Towie is when Jess got more vocal of her reservations surrounding Lauren.
The star was seen accusing Lauren of being ‘toxic’ for Mark and saying she was “playing the victim” when they would hit relationship troubles.
Despite the back and forth, the pair were often referred to as “frenemies”, as they did appear to have a friendship at points.
2012
Lauren and Mark officially split in 2012 after a tumultuous on/off relationship.
However, the drama between Lauren and Jess didn’t stop there.
The pair reportedly had a bust up in a taxi while leaving a London nightclub shortly after the split.
At the time, an onlooker said: “Lauren and Jess got in the cab after a night out and they suddenly started having this almighty row about Mark and why he wasn’t with Lauren any more.
auren was trying to claim that her split from Mark was all Jess and her family’s fault as they were getting in the way.
“She was insisting there could still be a future for her and him. It all got out of control then Lauren just lost it and started screaming at Jess.”
Later that year as the show went to air, they were embroiled in a Twitter back and forth.
Lauren tweeted about ‘sly people’ who try to ‘play victim’ in a clear dig at Jess.
While the latter replied: “Haha still cannot belieeeve some people are that deluded to think they can twist and lie about something so much! Wow! Manipulative & weird.[sic]”
Lauren left Towie that year.
2015/2016
Lauren made guest appearances during the show’s 2015 and 2016 series after a few years away from Towie.
In 2016, Jess said of her former sister-in-law: “She talked about my family, we had a disagreement about that, she said a few things that were quite nasty and that’s about it really.”
“There was no need for it to be quite honest. I was upset that it happened.
“Obviously we were friends for a very long time and I’ve been very good to Lauren in the past but that’s the way it is, I’m moving on.”
Carol is also seen hinting that Mark has moved on with co-star Sam Faiers as she informs his ex that she is coming over for dinner.
And earlier this year, Carol finally spoke out about the awkward scene with Lauren.
“I was like the miserable mother-in-law to be,” she said on the Wright at Home podcast.
“She hates it,” says Jess. Carol said: “I hate it, I hate every part about it.
“But it’s the way they used to catch me on camera like this miserable person that never smiled.”
