IRAN may be plotting to activate “sleeper cells” across the West in its war with the America and Israel, according to an encrypted message intercepted by the US.
The concerning message was sent after supreme tyrant Ali Khamenei was killed last Saturday, and appears to hold instructions for “covert operatives or sleeper assets,” ABC News reported.
A federal alert sent to law enforcement agencies warned that the coded signal could “be intended to activate or provide instructions to prepositioned sleeper assets operating outside the originating country.”
The warning also said a message had been transmitted to multiple countries from outside Iran from a broadcast station.
Although the message’s contents have not been established, “the sudden appearance of a new station with international rebroadcast characteristics” should raise alarms, the memo said.
It added that the signal was “likely of Iranian origin”.
Police forces across America have been urged to increase their monitoring of suspicious radio messages.
And despite no solid proof, counterintelligence experts have warned of potential revenge attacks on US soil.
Major cities across the country have been bolstering security after US-Israeli strikes began.
“If ever there’s going to be a Hezbollah cell or a Hamas cell act in the United States in a violent way, it’s now,” Chris Swecker, a former assistant FBI director, told Fox News after the war began.
FBI Director Kash Patel has also said his teams are “working 24/7, as always, to address and disrupt any potential threats”.

It comes as Donald Trump looks set to deliver “the big one” with another wave of strikes on Iran.
“We haven’t even started hitting them hard,” he said last week.
“The big wave has not even happened.”
