‘Hell of a spot’ – Southampton concede freak goal against Fulham but eagle-eyed referee rules it out over rule break

SOUTHAMPTON keeper Daniel Peretz was a relieved man after Fulham had a goal disallowed in their FA Cup tie because the ball was still rolling during his goal kick.

Fulham thought they had taken the lead when Peretz’s kick bounced off a player and was then poked into the back of the net.

But referee Jarred Gillett chalked it off after noticing the ball was still moving when Peretz went to take his goal kick.

Commentator Sam Matterface called it “a hell of a spot” from the official as the Saints were given a huge let-off.
