A CRUEL carer who used a gran as a “golden goose” and rinsed her of £300k before going on the run has a secret new life of luxury in Tenerife, The Sun can reveal.
Fugitive Pamela Gwinnett – dubbed “The Black Widow” for her crimes – has left locals and neighbours in the Brit tourist hotspot fuming as they demand she turn herself in.
The heartless 62-year-old, originally from Adlington, systematically plundered thousands from retired accountant Joan Green after setting herself up as the pensioner’s carer.
She then spent money she stole from the “frail” 89-year-old on an Audi Q2, expensive meals, designer clothes, mortgages and Botox.
Gwinnett was arrested for fraud by abuse of position and theft, but released on bail.
She applied for permission to fly to Tenerife, claiming she needed to scatter her brother’s ashes, which the court refused – five hours later, she was on a plane and fled the UK.
In her absence, the cruel monster was sentenced to six years in prison at Preston Crown Court – and the Judge Michael Maher called for help from the public and press to bring her back.
But The Sun can reveal the fugitive is hiding in plain sight, flaunting her freedom by sunbathing and going to bars in Tenerife.
Fuming locals told The Sun they recognised Gwinnett from her mugshot.
And they told us they want her dragged back to the UK and locked up for her vile crimes.
One told The Sun: “It’s a small place, everyone knows everyone, and she’s always out and about.
“She’s very well known there.”
Gwinnett is now understood to be living in a penthouse apartment in a sunny town on the south-west coast of Tenerife, according to locals.
It is understood she also owns another apartment, which The Sun found on various holiday let websites priced at £112 a night – and it is booked solid until April.
The lavish seaside property has access to a pool, “stunning views”, a balcony, a big TV and a more than 8 out of 10 rating on a booking website.
But guests are seemingly cottoning on to who their host is – with some reviews naming “Pam” and one saying she is wanted by UK police.
The host responded by saying the post was “slander” – and said “get your facts right”.
Preston Crown Court previously heard how the carer spent her victim’s hard-earned cash on “substantial mortgage payments for properties”.
One British pensioner told The Sun he met her in a bar, saying she tried to rent him a plush flat.
But later he discovered her “devious, evil crimes”.
The 66-year-old from Leeds said: “She’s certainly not hiding. I see her swanning about town, sometimes with some bloke – definitely British. It’s disgusting.
“She’s living off ill-gotten gains after robbing that sweet old lady of her dignity and her family.
“Spanish police need to pick her up. How is she allowed to just sunbathe all day? It’s abhorrent.”
One holidaymaker who spotted the carer in a pub said: “She was there four weeks ago, just enjoying herself.
“I’d seen her in the papers and I have friends [living on the complex] who were not happy that she’s there.
“She has some face. She is still there walking around like she’s done nothing wrong. She is going around the bars.”
Another raging pensioner told The Sun how Gwinett appears “very pleasant and quite attractive” on the island.
She said Gwinnett has been visiting the area for a number of years, but moved there full-time in April.
“It’s terrible that she’s done that to that elderly lady who has since died, and she’s just pottering about freely.”
Judge’s blast at Gwinnett
JUDGE Michael Maher blasted Gwinnett for fleeing the UK as her sentenced her in absentia.
“I address you as though you are present in the court room as it may
be that you read a transcript of these sentencing remarks in due
course when you are eventually apprehended.
“I know full that you are in Tenerife and you have been there since
April.
“Your application to vary your bail conditions to go to Tenerife –
purportedly to scatter your brother’s ashes – was refused on 2nd April
“You ignored that court order and boarded a plane 5 hours
later.
“I issued a bench warrant for your arrest on 10th April after you
fail to attend on 8th April 2025. You have been at large since that
day.
“You have treated this process as you did Joan Green with utter contempt.
“From your remote location you have continued to
instruct your legal team.”
He added: “I sincerely hope that Ms. Gwinnett is extradited back to the UK to serve this sentence for these egregious offences.
“It is an affront to justice and the rule of law for this Defendant to be
allowed to remain in Tenerife.”
Others fumed that the wicked 62-year-old is “knocking around bars” looking “very glamorous” and “dolled up”.
Neighbours say they contacted the police demanding to know when Gwinnett would be hauled back to face justice.
Judge Maher recently issued a confiscation order, ordering the sale of Gwinnett’s house in the UK to repay Joan’s family.
The Black Widow owns a £200,000 redbrick house on a sleepy residential street in the leafy village of Adlington, Chorley, in Lancashire.
Those in the quiet northern town told The Sun they never expected her to be capable of such horrible acts.
Gwinnett seemingly hid her evil intentions behind a friendly façade, all the while keeping the vulnerable OAP caged like an animal at her home in Chorley.
To maintain control over her “cash cow,” Gwinnett isolated Joan from her family, convincing the pensioner that her own relatives were stealing from her.
Tragically, Joan died in 2022 after spending her final years being “bullied” by the woman who was supposed to be caring for her.
But her neighbours had no idea.
“She was quiet and kept herself to herself mostly, she was always friendly and would say hi if you passed her in the street”, one told The Sun.
Another local, Rita Marsden, who lived just a few doors down from Gwinnett’s former home, has lived on the street for some 22 years.
“We knew her as neighbours,” Rita said, adding that “to me she was just Pamela Gwinnett, you don’t expect something like this.”
Rita, like the rest of Adlington’s community, was left shocked and appalled to find out what Gwinnett had done.
Residents well remember her “midnight flit” after authorities finally snared her last year.
Another neighbour, hopeful that the Black Widow would be caught and prosecuted, told us that Gwinnett “deserves what’s coming.”
“We didn’t know anything was happening until it all came out – it was quite shocking, you wouldn’t have expected it from Pam,” they said.
In the past, she rented out her home in the UK. An ex-tenant told The Sun: “She was a nasty horrible lady, she left us with no heating or hot water all over Christmas.
“The house was had exposed wires and she refused to get them fixed.”
Gwinnett’s barrister Abigail Holmes said her client intends to appeal the convictions for fraud and theft.
The cruel carer continued to steal from Joan even after her death, Preston Crown Court heard previously.
By the time Gwinnett’s power of attorney over Joan was suspended, she had already stolen £161,000 from the pensioner – and continued to do so after her death.
A court heard that the last months of Joan’s life had become “pock marked with increasing periods of bewilderment and confusion.”
The gran became doubly incontinent, but instead of looking after the elderly woman Gwinnett “bullied” her, the court was told.
She accused family members of mistreating the widow and did everything she could to keep them away while she fleeced her “golden goose.”
In a heartbreaking video, Joan’s family are heard trying to comfort her while confronting Gwinnett.
Joan can be heard asking what is going on in the background, as grandson David reassures her: “People are looking out for you nan, people are looking out for you. We have your best interests at heart.”
Heartlessly, Gwinnett removes his hand from Joan’s and tells her: “Look at those lying eyes Joan.”
David is heard saying: “This is wrong. There’s only one person who is in the wrong. Give us a love nan. Love you. It’s alright.”
Joan’s step-daughter Katherine Farrimond, 65, said Joan believed in her final years that her family “hated her” and “didn’t want to see her’” because to Gwinnett’s “lies.”
David told The Sun: “We were all disgusted – she’d used nan like a piggy bank.
“I’m really pleased she was found guilty but she’s still missing and it doesn’t change how she treated nan. People in Tenerife have since messaged us, calling her ‘The Black Widow’.
“We’ll eventually recover her money, but the one thing we can never get back is time. She tried to convince nan we hated her. I pray nan died knowing just how much she was loved.”
When approached by The Sun, Greater Manchester Police said: “There is currently no update however we will most likely issue proactively as and when there is.”
The Sun approached the Spanish Police for comment.
The Sun has made multiple attempts to contact Gwinnett via lawyers who have represented her during her trial.
