BGT act returns to ITV show for FOURTH attempt at success with major change

A BRITAIN’S Got Talent act made a shock return to the show in a FOURTH attempt at TV success.

Singer Katherine O’Malley is well known for her musical theatre performances on the ITV programme over the years – dressed in costume for various different characters.

The performer, from Salford, was always joined by her husband, Joe, for the novelty acts which more often than not failed to impress the judges.

Katherine and her husband first appeared alongside her husband in 2018 when they donned Beauty and the Beast outfits to sing Something There.

Despite Katherine receiving some praise from the panel, Joe’s voice was blasted as being rather lacklustre and as such, they were sent home.

Undeterred, she returned a year later with Joe in tow – this time performing in full fancy dress as Elsa and Sven from Frozen singing Let It Go.

Once again, they were axed before making it to the semi-final but they were back in 2020 this time to perform Under The Sea from Little Mermaid.

In a shock verdict, they made it to the semi-final where they performed Frozen once again.

Judge Amanda went on to quip that she thought Katherine should go “solo” as she had a pleasant singing voice but was held back by her husband.

Now, six years on, Katherine made a triumphant return to the BGT stage.

But following on from Amanda’s advice, she ditched Joe and performed solo – this time dressing as Elphaba from Wicked for a rendition of Defying Gravity.

As part of the eccentric performance, Katherine was even suspended on the stage as she reached the final section of the song.

Her solo performance was enough to win over the panel as she bagged herself a total of three yeses.

Joe supported her from the audience and encouraged the crowd to cheer for his wife and eventually joined her on stage after it was revealed she had made it through to the final round.

Reacting with glee at her show return, one fan even took to X to suggest she could win the whole competition.

They said: “We’ll be getting over 1 million votes in one of the weekly semi-finals and, possibly, the Grand Final for Katherine, or…
