MAX VERSTAPPEN has undergone an X-RAY on his hand after his freak crash in qualifying.
The Dutchman spun as soon as he hit the brakes, clattering through the gravel before hitting the wall.
The four-time world champion was seen looking at his hands after jumping out of the car but was cleared by the medical team.
He will start Sunday’s season-opener in Melbourne all the way back in 20th.
Verstappen said: “All good. I just had to get some X-rays done to see if my hands were OK, but nothing was broken.
It was the Red Bull driver’s eighth Q1 elimination in his F1 career which started out in 2015.
He expressed his confusion over the crash, adding: “I didn’t speak to the team yet or didn’t look into any data, but to lose the car like that on the braking, I’ve never experienced that in my life.
“I hit the pedal and suddenly the whole rear axle just completely locked up, so definitely a bit weird.
“I think it already went wrong before the downshift because I hit the pedal and as soon as I hit the pedal, because you quite quickly downshift, it already immediately locked on the peak of the brake pressure, basically.
“So something very weird, that’s for sure.

He had already admitted that he was “not a fan” of the power unit side of the regulations.
His views on the cars are not going to have improved, having been sent into the wall after an apparent technical problem.
He said: “I said how I thought about it. I mean, I’m definitely not having fun at all with these cars.
“I don’t know, you can make up your mind – but I think if you look at the onboard, you see enough, right?
“You can only make it slower and then of course you get a bit more of a normal speed trace – but it’s a slower speed trace.
“The formula is just not correct. And that is something that is a bit harder to change. But I think we need to.”
