WALID REGRAGUI announced his departure as Morocco manager after a historic four-year stint.
Regragui, 50, stepped down just three months before the 2026 World Cup in the US, Canada and Mexico where the Moroccan national team qualified for the group stage.
This comes two months after the Africa Cup of Nations Final that saw the Atlas Lions, who hosted the tournament, lose 1-0 to Senegal.
The Moroccan tactician issued an emotional farewell to fans on Instagram with a highlight video of his favourite memories.
Regragui issued the following caption: “God – Homeland – The King. Thank you,”
Fans were left moved by the former defender’s message and they stormed the comments’ section to express their appreciation.
One follower posted: “You are the best coach!”
Another commented: “Thank you.”
A third wrote: “Legend!”
This fan said: “A leader, a fighter, a legend. All respect to Walid Regragui.”

And that one added: “You are the best.”
Regragui made history in the 2022 World Cup when he led Morocco to the semi-finals in Qatar, where they finished fourth.
This was the first time an African and Arabic country made it to the final four of a World Cup.
Regragui inspired some memorable victories over the likes of Belgium, Spain and Cristiano Ronaldo‘s Portugal.
He leaves Morocco with a total of 36 wins and five losses in all of his 49 matches.
